What sort of a review team was it ? The cleaning staff ?

I've not read it all yet but have skimmed down to point 6 which I find very interesting. It seems JB lied to his legal team about having applied to complete courses and the Courts picked up on this..


"The committee noted that while your solicitors had stated on your behalf that you had applied to undertake various courses, reports from Long Lartin and Wakefield indicated that you had been unwilling to undertake offence related courses

This is what SH did in 2012 to his then prison solicitor David McCorkill and I picked up on it, resulting in both SH and his solicitor turning on me and suggesting I didn't know what I was talking about or words to that effect..

I should add that it was over a small detail - which may be insignificant to some but a lie or half truth is a lie imo.

which should never have been allowed to be published imo as it caused more harm than good and is still doing so.

It's a factor for how and why prisoners like JB continue to exploit the public...

It says that he had applied to do various courses.  His solicitors didn't claim that he had applied to undertake 'offence' related courses. 

That's how I read it, anyway!

That's how I read it, anyway!

They were referring to offence related courses Neil. To be downgraded from an A cat to a B cat he would have been required to complete offence related courses - meaning he had never applied to do the courses in the first place.

I'm not sure what other courses you have in mind?

He clearly didn't apply to complete offence related course as if he had the prisons would not have been able to prove he had been unwilling to complete the courses.

I strongly disagree!

And that certainly does not apply to someone who has murdered 5 members of their family, including 6 year old twins, or with someone who has murdered a 79 year old women.

Even more so if they are genuinely innocent or maintains innocence - what reason would they have to lie then? None!

I see your point but believe you are mistaken.

The solicitors said that JB had applied to take courses, but after checks were made it turns out that the prisons actually indicate that JB was unwilling to take any courses.

What I don't understand is why the solicitors wouldn't have asked for supportive evidence before the hearing, as opposed to just taking JB's word for it? Bit slack don't you think? Or am I missing something?

I guess so, but then it is worded as being stated on JB's behalf, so I guess it isn't being stated as a fact by the solicitors, but is merely a recital of what is being claimed by their client.

But the solicitors aren't representing him in a criminal trial they are representing him in relation to prison law.. Bit of a difference. I would have expected the solicitors to have checked their facts before presenting them.
The solicitors would have known about JB's prison files - all they had to do was ask for copies from JB regarding this aspect i.e. his OASyS report or it's equivalent back then.
