Reader are you implying Jeremy Bamber could not access the farmhouse through a window then lock it  after he left? I am not yet convinced that he did not have a key to that property.

Jeremy could have entered via the bathroom window, though I doubt that he ever used a hacksaw blade to do so, as it's an unsuitable instrument. He could possibly have exited via either the bathroom window or the kitchen window, but he claimed he didn't know how to close either behind him. On a separate occasion, he gained admittance without a key, but left a note for the housekeeper (or for BW, asking her to ask the housekeeper), asking her to fasten the window he'd used.

I have to say that I find the last bit incredibly stupid of Jeremy.  :o

Susan, unless he'd had one made secretly, I'd have thought someone would have known, for security purposes, how many keys there were. I'm tempted to suggest BW as the obvious person to know, but can her memory be trusted?

A key could help him get in, but not out. The police were convinced the only way out was via a window. Although a window could be latched from outside, Jeremy didn't seem to know how to do that.

April I am puzzled by the key as it was said a key was always kept outside the back door now did he use that we must ask Harters next time he is on he will know I am sure. Not sure if this door was a back door but another door out with the front and the one the police entered by. :'( confused or what.

Unless he was expected back -after returning the trailer- in which case a key wouldn't have been necessary..................................otherwise, CONFUSED :)

Reader had he had a key he could have locked the door after he left and thrown the key or hid it where it had been all the while it seems we have been told only two keys existed for the door the police entered by but surely other keys were available for other doors..

April that could be the case but he would need to lock the door behind him. I seem to think it was stated in Court he could have entered and left by a window :'(.  We shall ask Harters or Caroline when they arrive.

I just have a problem with how it was decided which window Jeremy used: a robin shat in the window sill! Makes it all too mumbo jumbo to be taken seriously!
As far as I know the EP tried to slam the window closed so that the hatch would close, but they were unsuccessful.

Alias that is correct. It is in the trial testimony.

And when Jeremy went in through the window to get his passport apparently he left a note for BW to explain the window was not locked.

He never denied getting in to the house through the windows - he always denied they could be LOCKED from the outside.

Obviously they would shut - but not lock.

As the police deduced that any exit was via a window, it must be the case that each external door was either bolted on the inside or locked from the inside with the key left in the lock.

The back door was bashed by the raid team, but what happened to the key which apparently was always in-situ in the lock,is anyones' guess.

I'm imagining old doors with very large keys -as opposed to Yale locks- but the locks could have been changed over the years.

Reader that would be the case so how did the prosecution explain how Jeremy Bamber entered and left the farmhouse if all windows were securely locked.  Or were they securely locked I wonder.
