What Essex Police had, which was never made known to Ann Eaton and the other relatives, was that photographs had been taken showing Sheila Caffell on the bed with her mother June, and subsequently upon the bed alone! It follows therefore, that Cops removed June's body from the bed and positioned it against the bedroom door before taking two photographs of Sheila upon the bed at a time she was only sporting one bullet wound to her neck!
In both of these photographs, there was no blood running from the corners of her mouth, none which had run out of one of her nostrils nor had blood pooled in her left eye socket by this stage! There was no triangular bloodstain on the upper right hand side of her Nightdress, nor any bloodied fingermarks on the front lower right hand side of her Nightdress! There was no gun with the body, no Bible on her chest! But, the hem of her nightie was provocatively raised beyond the top of her thighs, in a pose that bordered on soft pornography at its worst! The rifle had by this stage been removed, its whereabouts not known at this stage, but there can be no doubt that once Sheila's body had been lifted from the left hand edge of the bed, onto the floor cops brought that rifle to her body for gauging purposes! Whilst senior cops huddled around Sheila's body on the bedroom floor on the left of the bed, they debated whether or not they could present the shooting of Sheila downstairs in the kitchen as by way of the said rifle! They ummed and arred because with the silencer fitted to the rifle the rifle was too long to have fired the shot on Sheila's neck! No, no, no, argued one amongst them we can make it fit! At which point he tried to squeeze the over length weapon into too small a gap!
Bang!!!
Second shot which killed her immediately got fired from the anshuzt rifle! In created an additional bullet wound slightly higher up on her neck, located beneath the point of the chin! Almost immediately blood gushed from the second wound! The rifle was removed, and stood at the main bedroom window! Frantic efforts were then made to try to keep Sheila alive! She was rolled onto her right side on the bedroom floor! Blood ran from the corners of her mouth, and the upper wound on her neck! At one stage Sheila's head had killed forward and this caused blood which had ran diagonally out of the upper wound to become transferred onto a lower part of the neck giving a misleading impression that blood had flowed at this time from both bullet entry wounds! Whilst Sheila was laid in this position blood from her mouth and the upper bullet wound pooled in the field of her right arm upon which her body was resting! When cops gave up the ghost of trying to keep her alive they rolled her body into the suppose position, which caused blood from one of her nostrils to run backwards and pool into her left eye socket!!
During the course of rolling Sheila's body back into the suppine position, one of the officers involved left a bloodied handprint of his fingers on the front lower part on the right hand side of her Nightdress! By 10 O'clock when PC Bird started taking photographs he photographed the rifle leaning against the bedroom window (23), before he took photographs of Sheila's body in possession of the rifle (26, 27, 28, 29, 30, 31, 32 and 33), from the bedroom window! He tried to conceal the bloodied fingermarks on Sheila's Nightdress by placing the rifle over it! Similarly, he placed the open paged Bible face down over blood spillage from Sheila's wound and mouth whilst in the recovery position!
