I've thought about this and came to the same conclusion as Bill.  Firstly, they had angry relatives haranguing them.  If they release details of calls, they could be found wanting with regard to response times and the level of response / actions not carried out.  Secondly, it was case evidence under investigation. They had no obligation to share it.
But not in the first few hours. Any telephone call emanating from White House Farm would have confirmed their boss's suspicions that Sheila was responsible and therefore put them in Taff Jones' good books, it following therefrom that Jeremy was in the clear.

I'm sure EP were very worried about AE & RB haranguing them and changed stance.

Yes. I'm sure that's the case also. They didn't want to get told off and so they changed stance. Makes perfect sense.

I don't know how you have arrived at that? Sorry Roch but there is simply no evidence to support any of that.

In conclusion to this question, it has to be said that Taff didn't give any evidence of Sheila's guilt to the relatives.

The relatives went to Taff three times and then went straight to Peter Simpson. The relatives would not do this if they had been given evidence of Sheila's guilt.

It's not,or shouldn't be in an officers interest to speak to third parties concerning evidence or anything about a case. What " Taff " did was right. What the others did was totally wrong.
Why were the relatives so eager to want a blow by blow account of what had happened ? Shouldn't they have all been at home buried in grief ??

That's a good point. It may have been against police protocol to discuss evidence with the relatives.

This reaffirms and negates the suggestion that the relatives were given evidence of Sheila's guilt early on.
