Right,,,,,,now would you have thought that EP would have first made enquiries to BT as to whether two separate calls had gone through at that hour of the morning,to save the nonsense about the phone-calls ? Had I been the police,it would have been the first thing I'd have done which would have eliminated JB and everything else after that would have been a tissue of lies made by others.
That way would have made the case even more interesting. Catch the fraudster/s.
Lookout, because I've always thought the investigation was hardly one of the finest, there are several -numerous- questions I could ask. However, in fairness to them, the majority seemed to accept exactly what Jeremy had told them which would have made it irrelevant to do checks with BT at THAT time -even if they had, it appears that there are some doubts as to what information would have been forthcoming. I believe someone managed to contact one of the engineers responsible for the area which was undergoing the changeover, always a bad time for collating reliable information.
You say had you been the police you'd have done..................but you have to remember that the Bamber's prominent position in local society, and by default, Jeremy's, would have made it very unlikely that they'd have challenged/checked what he said. They didn't need to eliminate him. They accepted what he said as the truth.
