My husband wrote in caps too. I think he did so to put stress on what he was writing to make the recipient understand.

Hi letter I's were lowercase.  Maybe he just doesn't remember how to write most letters in lowercase and writes with most of his letters in uppercase as a matter of course.  People who exchanged letters with him would be in a better position to know his normal habits.

It could be because he wanted to distance himself from then, thus distancing himself from what he'd done, OR perhaps it signified that he'd never felt part of their family.

Lookout you clearly pick and choose an argument that suits you at any given moment. The 'he can't win whatever he says' argument is feeble at best and suggests you aren't being objective.

 :D :D :D I think we're speaking a cross purposes here, Scipski. I was responding to something I have in common with Lookout's husband, although I never exchanged letters with him. I take it you were referring to Jeremy when you said "people who exchanged letters with him would be in a better position to know his normal habits." I haven't exchanged letters with Jeremy, either.

I've posted the page again in order to point out how he contradicts himself in one sentence. The same sentence he's referring to his "deceased family."

He's suggesting that the women is told his family do not wish to be disturbed, yet by suggesting 'mother Teresa' has been in contact with his Mum, he's telling her otherwise.

Apart from showing impersonality it seems he doesn't care one way or another.

That might just be his style.  Maybe he thinks people won't be able to make out his lowercase letters.
