He wouldn't have killed them all,April. Positively not the children, but he'd have " chosen " his time.Maybe not Sheila either if he was thinking of an alibi ( mental health ),just the parents.
Dad with an " accident " on the farm. Mum,foxglove or aconite, anything growing in the garden used as herbal remedies.

Over how many week/months would this have occurred, lookout, and how long would it have taken for someone to start asking questions? The longer he took over doing it, the more likely would have been his courage to fail him. Far better, surely, to get it over and done in one feel swoop.

Have you been at the Agatha Christie novels Lookout?  ;D ;D ;D ;D I think he chose a far easier method - shoot eveyrone and blame it on his sister who had mental health issues.

No,I was thinking on the lines of being practical and using natural herbs which are readily available and don't leave a mess of blood everywhere,Plenty of poisons in the hedgerows when you know what you're looking for. Or the odd mushroom ?? Tossed into a frying pan with others,he was normally there for his breakfast ?
Sheila wasn't the only one in that household with mental health issues either.

Poisons don't have to take many weeks or months. There are plenty which can kill easily and swiftly without visiting a pharmacist. As explained in my post to Caroline.

Undoubtedly so Lookout, but I have the feeling that Jeremy wasn't too clued up on natural remedies/poisons and I don't recall reading that he excelled in chemistry. Also, if he was a gorm less as you suggest, if he even managed to cook the mushrooms in the first place, he'd probably have eaten the poisoned ones himself ;D

Susan, he'd already had Julie's sleeping pills. If he'd fancied himself as an Escoffier he could have crushed them in to vol au vents or stirred them into the soup. :D

So there would be no suspicion as the family fell ill, one by one and died and the only one left is - Jeremy? Hmmmm ....... I think someone might get a tad suspicious  ;)

And if he was going to throw the blame onto mentally unstable Sheila, he'd have had to plan an accident for his father commensurate with her abilities -I can't imagine her being able to cut brake cables- and she'd have to be the last to die. I somehow don't think it would have failed to be noticed that Jeremy was the last man standing.

Poison virtually always says foul play especially if you poison more than 1 person.  The only hope to get away with poisoning is to hope it is mistaken for a natural ailment and that goes out the window if you kill 5 people.

No one would believe June decided to commit murder suicide and intentionally poisoned everyone.

When police do find out poison was used they often track down where it came from which leads to the culpret particularly fast acting poisons.  Something that will kill very quickly before any medical treatment can be used to try to save them is not that easy to come by anonymously.
