Many thanks for the link, Adam. That has to be one of the best, most unbiased pieces I've read.

yes me too.

Just a question - how much evidence did the police take from the house to test for whose blood was where ? did they take sheets and pillow cases from the beds?  And samples of blood trails down the stairs etc?  And wonder why if they could ID the blood on the silencer ( which from this report though seems inaccurate) why could they not ID the blood on the rifle.

if NB had of been shot in bed before he phoned you think he would have said something in the call?

Jansus, in the beginning, certain they were looking at 4 murders and a suicide, would they have thought it necessary to do ANY testing? Would they not have thought the tableau told its' own story? Maybe this is why they disposed of it so quickly.

I don't believe any shots had been fired when he made the call to Jeremy and I think he felt the situation was containable.

the article said he was shot in the bed - but I had not heard that was a definite fact ?  And if they did not test  all the bedding how did they know whos blood was where. The blood on the bed could have belonged to SC , after all it seems all the relatives were told she was found on the bed with one shot - and that is what JM was told by the police as well.

You raise some valid points, Jansus. The articles stated some "facts" of which I'd previously been unaware :D but unless they stated whose blood was found where, I would imagine that they would have accepted that the blood on the bed was "an intimate mix" of June's and Sheila's. :D

There are a few inaccuracies in the article, but overall very balanced. Reading it, it becomes so glaringly obvious that Jeremy´s sentence is based on WAY too flimsy "evidence".

Flimsy to the point where there WAS no real evidence.

In fact, according to PC Collins and Delgado when querying the position of Sheilas' body, also mentioned that they had no recollection of a gun being on the body ? That the bible was near to Sheilas' waist,on the floor,,when it was originally reported to have been on her chest.
Someone's been lying. S.Jones had bitten off more than he could chew with this case for the simple reason that every step of the way he was gleaning information from JM and the relatives, instead of doing the right and proper thing. To share confidential information with the relatives,is/was a breach for starters.
I wonder if he was one of the officers who was taken to task concerning the case. It would certainly have been interesting to find out. There were 3 senior officers who were hauled over the coals.

If EP have photographs that show Sheil's body in a completely different position then logically that represents new evidence that will push through Bamber's appeal. That is of course if the CCRC don't rule that the police statements represent stronger evidence than any photographic evidence. AS THEY DID BEFORE.

Why would they not use their radios ?

And why did they need to use the phone. There were several police at the scene. Were they ordering a pizza ?
security. radio could in the 1980s be easily listened into using an ordinary fm radio I used to do it regularly (yes its illegal but the airwaves are open to all when not encripted its called scanning) the police were well aware of this and you would often hear "can you contact on landline please"

Actually you just bought back some memories for me - we used to listen to the police on our radio at home . My dad was a amateur radio buff as well.

We had great amusement one night when the police were chasing a loose pig.

Wonder if there were people listening in on the night?
