Obviously, JB would have had more time if he called the police at 3:26. However, JB has never let us know exactly when he got dressed, so we don't know whether he still needed to do that after calling Chelmsford police station. What we do know for certain is that mike tesko has driven the route and posted a video of his trip on youtube. At one point in the video, he slows down considerably, and then a bit later, he stops to talk briefly to the camera, but he still does the whole trip in around 7 1/2 minutes. This is proof that the route can be done without any extreme driving in under 7 1/2 minutes. It's not reasonable in the light of that to claim it's unlikely that JB could have done much the same. Provided he left home straight after the call, he did have enough time to make the trip exactly as his supporters believe.

It's not possible at all.

Right now, unprepared get your shoes on, grab your keys and get in your car.

That will take two or three minutes or more, and you haven't even turned the engine on yet. There simply isn't enough time.

If he was so well prepared, dressed and groomed, and had already called JM, then it poses further questions as to why the lack of urgency in calling the police.

In any event, it doesn't really matter, the only purpose for placing the call at 3:36 is to try and create an earlier call to the police from Ralph.

Whilst you are a stickler for particulars, you may have noticed that nothing, and I mean nothing, supports a 3:36 call.

It would actually be better for the defence for the call to be earlier.

Head Street, Goldhanger to Pages Lane is a distance of 2.7 miles (according to Google maps).

A 5 minute journey by car.

That's odd, it says 3.8 miles and 10 minutes on my google maps.  :-\

Morning No Bits

According to AA it's 3 miles and 10 mins postcode to postcode.  Problem with using websites for timings is that for legal reasons clearly they have to work with speed limits that pertain to the relevant sections of road.  If JB exceeded limits, and bearing in mind in Aug '85 drivers were not as mindful of speed limits as they are today, I reckon he could shave a bit of the 10 mins  ;). AE said he was a fast driver albeit EP say they overtook him driving slowly  :-\

Postcode areas are large, you are better off actually clicking between two points.

I have just this morning recreated the journey travelling under speed limits, it is 273 miles and takes 4 hours and 39 minutes.

Oh, and good morning to you Nanu.  :)

Yes postcode areas can be large but less so in rural areas.  A large postcode area usually occurs with a very long road.

Sorry No Bits you have lost me, what is 273 miles and 4 hours and 39 mins?

In the words of Victor Meldew, I can say -" I don't believe you"

You have missed the point - the Decimal Point.

As a self-confessed 'programmer' in the world of architecture, No Bits, are you definitely, or to use your spelling - definately, a specialist in "Inglenooks"?

Think about it!!!

So that police officer who said he did it on a bike in 6 minutes was telling porkies after all. We can't have it both ways can we. If Bamber rode at speed along the see wall to get home to call the police to make it seem as if he was at home at the time of the murders. Them you've just proved that it was not possible to do so?

When driving it does seem a long way when I drive that route. We must also consider the condition of the road and at places there are some very sharp corners which have to be negotiated carefully. Unlike those speeding cops who commented on Bamber's "slow" driving.

Nobody else have a problem with this?

I certainly don't have a problem with it - it’s clearly contradictory!
Reality Check - What evidence is there to free JB? Answers on a very small postcard!
