Alias I often thought, if indeed Ralph Bamber uttered the words "I must never turn my back on that young man" he was referring to the fact that Jeremy's birth Father had turned his back on him he certainly did not mean he was afraid he was going to kill him he would have taken some action had he seriously thought that.

This is something I've wondered also. The fact that there are apparently 27 reports suggests to me that he has an annual assessment. Out of those 27 assessments we have only been treated to a couple of paragraphs which appear to declare him not a psychopath. However, if the rest of the reports are equally supportive why not make then available in full, so that the comments can be seen in context?

Context, context, context...I agree it is so important that's why I struggle with the following assuming they were actually said:

"Oh Uncle Bobby, I would have no trouble in killing anybody I could easily kill my parents" (RB)

"I hate my fucking parents" (James Richard)

"I'm not going to share my money with my sister" (Doris Foakes)

It could also have meant that, yes, never thought of it.
I am quite convinced that he was not talking about Jeremy killing him in that sentence.

Yes I agree, I place no particular importance on those comments for exactly that reason.

As we know Alias, as per AE's wit stats, NB was quite light and enjoyed messing around, the comment could mean lots of things said in jest, but I feel certain that there was nothing sinister in it.

Don't know about you, NaNu, but I can hear the provocation that prompted the replies to Uncle Bobby and Doris Foakes. As for the conversation he had with James Richard, what's the betting he couldn't remember a thing about it the next morning.

I know I have - in fact, if you listened in on what my sisters and I say and have said, we would be arrested....

I have thought it. I once ran away and got as far as the back chippie. My poor gran had a fall on the lane in a panic looking for me and grazed all up her arm.  I felt really bad about it at the time. Sometimes we don;t feel loved, but we were....

That is why no one should build a case one way or the other on a single sentence someone may or may not have said. Chinese whispers come to mind here.

My mother was very strict about the time I came home, even at 16/17 I had to be in at 10pm and I'd get a right telling off if I was a minute late. In fact she wouldn't even allow me to stand outside the house chatting to my friends, who were allowed to stay out till later.  I suppose in a way I can thank my mum now, but then I rebelled, because I thought I was hard done by.

I was just reading Colin's letter and was wondering why he never sent it to NB? Could things have been different if he had have done?

I was just reading Colin's letter and was wondering why he never sent it to NB? Could things have been different if he had have done? 

Perhaps it was just cathartic Patti and he felt so much better having written it that he no longer felt the need to send it OR perhaps he thought he may have been a bit heavy handed OR maybe he just chickened out. I imagine he was never less that a little intimidated by the Bamber clan.
