Anyone see the gloits in Glasgow celebrating? They didnt  look old enough to remember when she was PM.
They got their mugs on the tv i suppose!

I didnt like what maggie did to the miners and working classes. But, she was a strong leader and didnt take any shit from anyone, absolutely fearless.

I forgot to say RIP.

There's plenty of reasons to censor private letters. Although I appreciate that any censorship will always stoke the fires of the conspiracy theorists.

what reasons would there be to censer a 30 year old letter.

arnt people who geting freindly with the prime minster supposed to be veted.

mrs t had a history of doing this she did it the kincora scandal as well cover up for people who were implicated and prometd them and that's not a conspiracy theory.

Well that's the thing isn't it, unless you see what has been censored you cannot possibly say why it has been censored. The one thing that you cannot say is that there is no reason (other than nefarious reasons) that it would have been censored.

I didn't mean going to hell. I meant an apparent  piece of shit.

You find it very easy to hide behind a username anonymously posting rubbish about people on the internet.

why do you through a tantrum every time someone says something you don't agree with.

Hi Patti  Counci Houses were built for needy families and should have been kept for them anyone who could afford to buy should have done so privately this would have stimulated the building trade.  The devastion to Yorkshire and Welsh Mining Villages was horrendous and families were torn apart and some have never recovered from the devastion and never will and it is so sad it had to happen on such a large scale.
I agree with you on that one. Council homes were built for the needy. We lived in a council home in the 50's. Before that we lived in a rented flat. Council homes were originally built for those who lost everything in the war. We still had rationing when we were young. I have always been labour as it was the original Labour party who brought in the National Health Service, which the Conservatives have always tried to destroy and starve ever since. The Conservative philosophy is and always hase been to increase the riches of the rich and the rich were supposed to help the poor, of whom only a few did. The Labour Party's philosophy (the old Labour that is) was to help the poor and the NHS was a brilliant idea originally. Coucil house rents were also very affordable so those who were not that well off were able to pay for them. But today there are housing associations who charge the earth for rents. A lot of things have changed through successive governments. The Labour party today unfortunately are more like Conservatives who themselves cannot understand the true situation of the poor. The conservatives certainly cannot understand as it it run by millionaires and the first people they target are the poor and the disabled. Remember it was Maggie Thatcher who took away free milk for school kids. Remember also that it was her who closed many hospitals in an attempt to centalised all medical care. So you have less emergency departments and less staff. They are always cutting nursing staff in the NHS but always seem to increase the administration staff. And as a regular visitor to the hospital I can honestly speak for the nursing staff that they are very demoralised, many of them working 12 hour shifts. This is due to the conservative cuts. This all began with Maggie Thatcher whose aim it was to "streamline" the NHS. The Conservative party have made a right hash of things in their efforts to "sell off" the NHS to the private sector.

Hi Lugg

I had forgotton about the school milk my Dad never forgave her for that as so many children from poorer backgrounds looked forward to their milk each day.  Her cut backs were drastic to say the least and brought parts of this Country to their knees.   I am really puzzled why Bernard Ingham has not been interviewed perhaps he is up in Hebden Bridge rolling Easter Eggs (not with his eyebrows Maggie) ;D ;D ;D ;D

Btw, can anyone explain to me what was wrong with poll tax?

Yes. At the time I lived with my parents and I was on a YTS scheme earning £35 a week. When the poll tax came in, my dad got a bill, my mum got a bill and so did I. There was only my dad who earned a 'proper' wage and he was self employed, so his earnings differed, my mum didn't work and looked after my younger siblings. The bill was more than I earned a month (just for myself), so in essence the government expected my Dad to pay the bill 3 times and we couldn't claim for any help and I suspect a lot of other families felt the same.

Joanne1  what system is fair to one will not be to others.  My husband and I live in a large house so pay large Council Tax neighbours live in a lesser house 6 of them and pay half of what we do they use more water have more waste use the roads more is that a fair system. Because we have worked hard to achieve what we have we are being penalized for it.  Poll tax suited us.  I can see your point though and I think Council Tax would be better based on a system more like Income Tax.
