Thanks for the link Nugnug.

It's to be welcomed that these cases are being exposed which are all based on abuse of power.  I expect many more to follow and hope they are all treated seriously and those responsible for any wrongdoing are punished.  I hope too we don't become desensitised.

I first heard about Kincora from an Irishman in the 1990's. He had been quietly placed there due to his mother not being married in the 1960's. During that period it was considered taboo/shameful for a young girl to have a child unmarried.

What he described was unimaginable. Those kids had no one. They were physically and sexually abused daily. Colin Wallace exposed them. Those perpetrators were not just the monks who ran the place, but also powerful people. The journalist Paul Foot later wrote a well researched book on this very subject " Who framed Colin Wallace"

Hi Harold

it was disgusting what some of these so called men of God got upto they hid behind their robes and got away with it but not as easy now.  The Brothers in the Irish Schools were so cruel and hard on the poor children.  Shame on them. :'(

Quite agree. They have done this for decades. What I found appalling upon reading this book years ago was the fact that the then P.M Margaret Thatcher protected these vile people. Thatcher gave one of them diplomatic immunity and sent him to Brussels. The press were conveniently silenced.

The Irish Nuns in the girls homes were also inhumane. The feature film called the Magdalane Sisters was well researched before being produced.

What some poor innocent children had to suffer by abuse is unforgivable they were being abused by the very people who were supposed to be caring for them and many people in Authority knew of the sickening cruelty these innocent children wre being subjected to and turned a blind eye.  I say shame on them too and I sometimes ask myself where is my God.

abuse of power is all around us..it sounds just like the jimmy saville case..there are always government officials and vip's and royalty involved in these despicable crimes..it makes me sick to my stomach.
