I wonder what a thief would be doing in a bathroom? Stealing the soap? Unless of course the bathroom window opened onto the fire escape?

What fire escape?

His claim is that he feared someone broken in through a window that you need a ladder to reach and then was rummaging around in his bathroom.

As you point out who would try to rummage through a bathroom?

His claims are absurd.

He wakes up hearing noise in the bathroom and doesn't look to see if his girlfriend is in bed next to him he assumes she is, assumes a crook used a ladder to break into his bathroom and then closed the door to hide in there while rummaging around.  That's the dumbest thing I ever heard.

If you are all alone when you go to sleep and know you are the only one in the house then in that case you have cause to think an intruder is in your house when you hear someone moving around.

I understood that he went into hospital voluntarily for a 28 day psych assessment..............but I could be wrong.

That´s right. The prosecution asked for this. Think it was because of some claims of the defence about his mental state in general. The judge ordered the evaluation, as far as I know.
I follow the case somewhat, but not in great detail. Enough to come to the conclusion that his story is BS though, he is guilty as hell!

Although I have never been a fan of Oscar Pistorius, after watching his trial, I am sure he never intended to kill Reeva Steinkamp and I think the knowledge that he caused her death and loss to her parents is causing him very much guilt which he going to have to deal with. If I put myself in his position, hearing a noise, getting up in the night having been sleeping, I'd not be able to see anything whatsoever without my spec and I'm not a great mover these days, I can see myself doing the same except, I think I'd have wanted to know where my partner was or was it just gut instinct he thought she was in bed and the fact she'd have been frightened she didn't call out.
I cannot see that any media can say that the justice system in SA is corrupt (not that they have as yet), the judge in this case is describing point by point how she has and is coming to her decisions and I am very impressed with her, she is being very fair.

Yes,I agree,Jo. He didn't intend killing Reeva, that's plain enough. As you say, reactionary measures would force you to shoot first and ask later.Wrong,I know, but Oscars' mind would have been a lot different from those of us with lower limbs,he'd have been that more alerted to danger.
I don't want to make excuses for the mans' loss of legs, but it definitely would have affected his overall alertness to impending danger.

Going to be sentenced in June, could get 15 years, guilty all along.

Oscar Pistorius dressed Reeva Steenkamp's naked body after he shot her dead, claims new book revealing never-before-seen details of the model’s death
Athelete claims he accidentally shot Reeva after mistaking her for intruder
Two forensic experts now claim her injuries prove he murdered the model
They believe two wounds on her back match the tip of his cricket bat
A small hole on Reeva's arm 'shows he shot her with air rifle as she fled'
Backs up prosecution case he shot her in fit of rage during a violent row

Which would explain the reason for all his crying in court. I should have known it was a dead giveaway. Philpotts tried that and it didn't work either.

Remember, Jeremy wasn't blubbering-------but JM did when questioned by Rivlin ( who wasn't even forceful with his questioning )

Right. So the yardstick by which we judge whether or not a person is telling the truth in the witness box, is their tears or lack of? I'm sure that every barrister and/or psychologist will be endlessly grateful to you for revealing that gem.

Some really weird people about Jane who don't give a toss about the victims or their families, take a read of this Jane.
He was cheered by his supporters, most of whom were dressed in white, when he left the court earlier this week for a hearing and navigated his way through a scrum of reporters.

A leader of the supporters, Don Hassett, appealed for a lenient sentence for Pistorius.

'He knows it was wrong and he has admitted that but the media has generated hatred against Oscar,' Mr Hasset told reporters.

Before the proceedings, a group of supporters gathered inside the courtroom and prayed for the athlete.

He knows it was wrong my arse.  He thought and hoped he could get away with it.  It was so obvious he did it on purpose just like OJ and yet people support them.  Shame on them.
