Diane Jones,April,in which EP had remained with heads bowed that they didn't solve the crime. I think it was re-opened again this year. It happened a couple of years before WHF.
The force was " reeling ",as the media had put it.

The Essex boys weren't in the same area. The ones in my area were Wilfred Bull who shot his wife, Patsy. Jimmy Bell who shot his wife, Augusta before turning the gun on himself and Jeremy Bamber. The one left unsolved was the doctors wife Diana Jones. The police were TOTALLY convinced that he's done it but he refused to answer any questions and they didn't have the evidence to convict.

Which meant that hook or by crook,EP had to secure a conviction with WHF,and it was no use " blaming " the women as they were dead,so they plumped for soft lad Jeremy.Any port in a storm at that very sticky time,or heads would have rolled as EP had already been warned.

Lookout, that being the case, they HAD their culprit -or a CHOICE of culprits, if you prefer- why make life harder for themselves. With this one their pat on the back was guaranteed.

Although he was suspected by one or maybe two coppers (we know that the majority believed as Taff Jones did) the case wasn't going any further. It was the relatives who stirred things up and kept bothering Taff Jones and when that didn't work they complained to another policeman, who took notice of them. Taff Jones was taken off the case for allegedly witholding evidence (I believe it had something to do with a silencer he kept on his desk using it as a paperweight? Don't ask me where I got that from, I can't remember? ) and another officer was put in charge in his place. But it was the relatives that changed the course of events.

I remember the silencer having been used as a paperweight. I also remember how the relatives must have felt when they were shown the door each time they tried to change " Taffs' " mind about the murders. I bet that didn't impress RWB. ;D ;D ;D-----being chased away.

Lookout, despite a change in stance, I also adhere to my belief that he was a thorn in the side of the wider family.

Oh there's no doubt about that,April. They must have visualised their livelihood vanishing before them.
To have been a fly on the wall at that time would surely have been worthwhile. ;D ;D
