Huntley dead.

Can't say I'm surprised and doubt many tears will be shed.
If yesterday you hated me. Then today you can not stop the love that binds from me to you. And you to me

The night before he died I read he was off life support which I was disappointed to learn as assumed he was recovering.  Following morning I was listening to news which was paused for 'breaking news'.  I assumed it was going to be about about Mid East.  I then heard IH had died.  I let out a visceral 'Y-E-S' akin to when ManU or Lionesses put one in the back of the net.

The families of Holly and Jessica will no longer have to hear about him and it will save British taxpayers paying for his upkeep.

Holly and Jessica would now be 34 yoa.

Living down under I never really followed this case thinking it was open & shut. Just curious, did Huntley ever protest his innocence? This popped up on my facebook feed.

He plead not guilty and told the court a ludicrous version of what happened.

I don't think he ever bothered challenging his conviction after that.

Ironically he got a 11 to 1 majority, one juror bought his version.

Like the old saying goes. Your life is in the hands of 12 people who weren't smart enough to get out of jury duty.

I suppose he could have wrapped the bodies in a few bin bags to avoid leaving traces of DNA. It's a well-written article.

Ha ha! Doe's that mean you're in favour of some jury trials being scrapped, Dave?

It is not a well written article at all.  I spent < 2 mins reading it to find just two glaring mistakes:

- IH was not a caretaker at the victims' school.
- One of the first journalists to speak with IH, if not the first, was suspicious straight away to the extent he alerted the police:

Jurors did not get to hear about most of his previous.  They did hear about one case.  I am not sure about the basis ie what was heard and what wasn't.

I'm surprised that somebody like yourself, who in all other cases is obsessed with scene of the crime evidence (or as you always pompously write it: SOC) did not respond to the allegations of lack of Holly and Jessica's DNA in the house or in the car, why the cadaver dog didn't react to Huntley, why he wasn't picked up on CCTV if the bodies were dumped close to the airforce base, why he didn't dispose of the Manchester United shirts elsewhere, why the mechanic didn't recognize Huntley.

Of course, Huntley is guilty and it was a wicked crime. But it was still a well-written article.

In that link I posted I see that Joe Viallis is credited with gathering the information.
This looks like his original published work.
https://www.sott.net/article/252937-Who-Really-Murdered-Holly-Wells-and-Jessica-Chapman-Part-1

Quote
In an attempt to demonize Ian Huntley still further, police "leaked" the damning information that he had been arrested for rape a number of years earlier. Well, yes, almost. While still a teenager Huntley had consensual sex with his girlfriend, who was only 15-years-old at the time, an offence in the United Kingdom known as statutory rape. He was never charged with an offence however, and his former girlfriend [now age 21 years] recently confirmed it was a mutual crush [love affair], with enthusiastic sexual consent on both sides.

Edit : here's part 2.

I'd forgotten Carr helped him clean the house. I thought she had given him a false alibi period.
