That does not work. If he disconnected the fawn kitchen phone he would close the line that the GPO were going to be monitoring at some time. Since this was the connection to the master socket no phones in the property would work and if there was no handset there would not be anything to hear when they checked the line. Your theory does not explain who moved it after JB had left it off the hook.

I think Jean turned against JB at some point. There has been much discussion about how things in the kitchen looked different to her based on her memory.

https://jeremybamberforum.co.uk/index.php/topic,12489.msg577675.html#msg577675

I think she is an unreliable witness and her memory of events is questionable.

This is from the CT website.

that Jeremy lied about the spare telephone being broken when he actually just said it was a spare and the testimony of Jean Boutell illustrates this
The bedroom phone had been moved to the Kitchen before the murders took place, I know that for a fact.

So are you saying Jean made up what Bamber told her then?

I think her memory was faulty and can you produce evidence to back assertion

It had definitely been swapped either the day before the murders or before, who by I don’t think we will ever know.  Was Neville aware, yes I believe he was.

Wasn't there problems with the phones , Bubo, shortly before the shooting? Wasn't there an electrical storm that caused damage too?
I think it was claimed that Ainsley used the mobile phone with the last number function and then put it on a shelf in the upstairs office if I recall correctly. Haven't looked at the phones issue for a while.
But your right, a phone was found under a pile of magazines in the kitchen and JB was later accused of hiding it.
It was the phone issue that changed Bob Woofindons mind about JBs innocence remember.
I personally think Bob Woofinden view of the phones was wrong Snow.

Try this.

I think the police may have hid the fawn phone. If Harris was going to phone Simpson he would not want to do it on a last 'number memory phone'. They brought the Bedroom phone to the kitchen. They left it off the hook but that did not matter to them because the link had been taken down by then but it provides the possibility that it was that phone that was the source of the noises heard. Further Crispy was found in the bedroom so any barking noises are more likely to have come from that room.

Do we agree to this ….. There were normally four telephones at White House Farm (although there was only one telephone line). A cream old-fashioned finger-dial telephone kept in the main bedroom (the bedroom telephone), a blue digital telephone in the first floor office (the office telephone), a cream cordless telephone kept in the kitchen but used around and outside the house (the cordless telephone) and a fawn digital telephone also kept in the kitchen (the kitchen telephone). The only telephone with a memory recall feature was the cordless telephone but this had been faulty and was collected for repair on the morning of 5 August 1985.

The telephone that had been found with the receiver off its cradle in the kitchen was in fact the bedroom telephone, which had been moved downstairs. The kitchen telephone had been hidden amongst a pile of magazines in the kitchen. The office telephone was in its normal place.

Mostly. I have no knowledge of the colour or the capabilities of the cordless phone. If my memory serves me correctly the fawn phone had a memory function.

🧠 Memory & Digital Features
Some models like the Viscount and Sceptre included memory recall or last number redial—early digital conveniences.

Cordless phones were also emerging, though they were less common and often had reliability issues.

🏠 Real-World Example
A 1985 case referenced a blue digital telephone in an office and a fawn digital phone in a kitchen, both likely BT models with memory functions.

On 28th September 1984 following an order from Mr Neville BAMBER of White House Farm, Tolleshunt D'Arcy, I rasied an invoice of one Envoy Cordless telephone and a two way adaptor.
These I delivered to White House Farm a short while later after receipt
of them from the supplier Gazelle Trading Co, 6-7 South

About 15th July 1985 this instrument was replaced by one of identical
type as the original had been affected by a lightning strike.
During the week commencing 29th July 1985 I received a telephone
call from Neville BAMBER complaining of a fault in the cordless telephone
I obtained an identical one from my supplier and on checking it before taking it to Mr BAMBER, I found it to have the same fault in the ring.

About 10-10.30 am on Monday 5th August having made an appointment I
attended White House Farm, where I was met by Sheila BAMBER, I do not know

her married name, with her were two twin boys.
This was at the back
door. Having told Sheila who I was she called her mother June and I askedher for the telephone and boThese were not ready and we had to get
Neville BAMBER from the barn who obtained the necessary packaging. He
then left the kitchen through one door and came back to the hatch. The
power point for the telephone was in a little cubbyhole behind the hatch.
Neville then unplugged the power followed by the GPO line from the white GPO socket next to the serving hatch. This GPO socket had the two way adaptor in and this also was removed and retained by me.
There was a further cream coloured telephone of the type issued by the
GPO, in the kitchen. This had been retained by Mr BAMBER as his wife did not get on with the cordless ones.
Having packaged the defective telephone I left the premises. At this time there was no replacement cordless telephone left.
During my time there I got the impression of a happy family with the children ammusing themselves .

That was because June did not like the cordless phone and preferred the bedroom cream phone. They may well have turned to the 'Spare Fawn phone' and took the cream phone back to the bedroom. Pike was reporting what he saw two days prior to the tragedy. They may even have moved the cream phone back downstairs on the 6th for June. If they were 'Playing Musical phones' as Jean Boutell described how the family used phones. They could plug the spare in at night to allow calls to be received by connecting it to the master socket.

Nevertheless, despite your claim that June was walking round the bed to reach the phone, it seems more than likely that she knew the phone wasn't there.

It is also likely that June moved the cream phone to other downstairs rooms which had sockets like the living room for example. They did not have phones for every room.

I cant remember what he said now,HB!
Well Bob was of the opinion that when Bamber entered the house he took the kitchen phone off the hook to disable the rest of the house phones.  Once he killed everyone, there might be questions asked why Neville didn’t use the bedroom phone, so he said Bamber replaced the Fawn coloured phone in the kitchen with the cream bedroom phone.

But we all now know and this was confirmed by Pike, the bedroom cream phone was already in the kitchen on the 5th of August,  so it wasn’t moved on the day of the murders

So it rules out the Police moving the phone,  because it was moved to the kitchen  two days or more before the murders took place and it weakens the theory Bamber moved the phone on the day of the murders in my opinion?

Read my posts the cream phone could have been moved to the bedroom and others as needed. Please do not make unsubstantiated claims HB

I don’t buy your claims and posts, your posts are made up by you,   saying it could doesn’t mean it was.  The evidence……………. Pike said the cream phone was in the kitchen two days before the murders, the raid team found the cream phone in the kitchen on the day of the murders with the phone off the hook, photo’s taken on the morning by Bird show the cream phone in the Kitchen, Bamber said the Bedroom phone had been taken down to the Kitchen because the kitchen phone wasn’t working.

So your claim I am making unsubstantiated claims is false as per usual, I have given good evidence that the cream phone was in the kitchen, where as you have given COULD have as your evidence!  All your trying to do, is to make it look like June was alive and it was June this and June that Bollocks to tie in with your stupid theory that June was alive and she was shot by the TFG.
