What ever the fight nevill put up. It wasn't enough to injure him. Although dealing with a 6 foot 4 16 stone nevill wouldn't have bene an easy feat.

True Jane, but remember he was on the minutes at Bourtree Cottage, so let's say he puts the murder clothes in the washing machine and starts the cycle, he then telephones police then Julie (take your pick as to the order of the calls),  he had to meet police at White House Farm, then after a period of hours he was accompanied back to Bourtree by DS Jones and DS Clark. The former is beginning to be suspicious at this point. There's no time to hang out the washing or place clothes in the tumble drier.

He wasn't a suspect at the time, though, so I doubt they'd have thought clothes in a washing machine were suspicious. That's if they'd even noticed them.

This 1985 WM has a lot of buttons. Be surprised if a quick wash was not an option.

Yes, that was strange. Or was it Anthony Pargeter who noticed them? Apparently Jeremy volunteered the information, showing his hands. Didn't Ann Eaton also mention she didn't see any cuts on his hands? So it's more likely they were non-contact crimes, apart from Nevill getting a hand on the murder weapon, if not Jeremy himself.

But often there are remnants left in a burning receptacle, such as cords, zips and buttons. It's all getting very risky.
