I agree you have to factor in the frozen State Pension. I think that happens in all Latin American countries, sadly.

There's a list of the 13 cheapest countries here. I wouldn't retire anywhere without an established Christian community. https://expatra.com/articles/retire/cheapest-countries-to-retire/
Wow, i'm sold, Northern Cyprus everyone, Income Tax free on your Pension.  We have it Steve i think more Brits have moved there as Well, i know of one?

Montenegro looks interesting. As does North Cyprus.

It's not a choice I will ever make, but I can't see the point in going South American if there are European options.  You wouldn't want to be too far from Blighty would you?

Yes: the only problem is nobody knows whether you legally own the property as it may have belonged to a Cypriot Greek who was ethnically cleansed when Turkey invaded in 1974 and the island was partitioned. Does anybody recognize Northern Cyprus? I think not.

They're all Slavs aren't they? I don't speak any of those languages of the former Yugoslavia.

Well they do Package Holiday's from here Steve, i honestly Dont think that the Turks would give this up now?
