Hi April, what is a 'Coggeshall Job'?
Are you sitting comfortably? Then I'll begin

Once upon a time Coggeshall had a wonderful marching band who were so good that they won prizes. One day whilst they were performing outside the Chapel Hotel, the landlord came out and told the leader how wonderful the band sounded from inside the pub and what a shame they couldn't hear it. The leader decided that he must hear how good they sounded so he went into the hotel and was AMAZED by the melodious sound. So excited was he by what he's heard that he called the whole band into the hotel so they could all hear how good they were

..................then there was the time that they put a fence around the village to stop the measles getting in from neighbouring Kelvedon, which would have been about the same time that they tried to fish the reflection of the moon from the river to give them more light because they wanted to get the cow from off the church roof where they'd put it to eat the moss.
As you can probably tell, at that time most people in Coggeshall were a sandwich short of a picnic.............and some of them may not be much better now
