The bloodied torch conviction: the case of Joe Bryan
« on: July 25, 2018, 02:28:PM »
He was a Texas High School Principal accused of killing his wife whilst ostensibly attending a work conference 120 miles away in Austen. The main item of evidence was a bloodied torch discovered in the boot of his car by the brother of the deceased, which Police would later claim contained backspatter from the crime scene.

He was tried for killing his wife but it's a good question. If he had paid someone I would have thought he would have established a better alibi for himself, such as appearing on CCTV somewhere.

The journalist Pamela Colloff, though I doubt she was responsible for the music.

If he hired someone else, why would the bloodied torch be in HIS car?

I think the suspicion might have been that it was planted by the brother of the deceased.

Wouldn't that implicate the brother?

Well there was no direct evidence so the Police had to make the torch relevant to the crime through the blood spatter evidence, over which there was controversy. The brother did have access to the vehicle so it has to remain a possibility. http://www.kwtx.com/content/news/Ex-area-school-principal-loses-parole-bid-lawyers-fight-to-free-him-485291431.html
