I would have said leggings and a top----------for ease of hurtling around. Both  items were washed through or left soaking.

She was wearing pedal pushers and black pumps. June had begun to accept Sheila as she was, possibly after a talk with the local vicar about the family problems, which is why she was planning an allowance for her to lead her own life in London more independently.
