do we know who decided to take taff jones off the case.

I think he did it under his own volition,nugs,and was more than delighted to have done so.
The time was right to throw his hand in.He'd done his bit-------------or so he thought,until the case was turned on its head by a forceful Ainsley.
" Taff " didn't need to make a name for himself. He'd already got out what he'd put in,his position,years served and several commendations. He didn't need the aggro/backbiting and hassel.

did he leave becouse he felt he was being to take the case in a diffrent derection.

 " Taff " saw it his way and I don't doubt he'd seen many "domestics" in his time as a serving officer,so he'd certainly know one when he saw it. There must have been other indications that led him to believe that it was a family row that had gone terribly wrong,and it's these indications that have remained under lock and key,though he never gave up his own determination that the case was,as he'd deduced,right from the start.

What was it that made " Taff " ignore,or refuse to see the relatives,or listen to what they had to say ? Had he seen/heard it all before in previous cases where someone was disliked intensely,or where there's been a substantial inheritance ? Quite possibly. " Taff " was nobodys fool and wasn't likely to be led by others.

It remains to be the documents which supported the 4 murders and 1 suicide that none of us have seen ??

Even Stan Jones in one of his statements added that the family ( relatives ) put pressure on him.Particularly about the scratch on the Aga,which Jones had replied that it could have been done anytime before the murders,so wouldn't have been of much relevance.
You really do have to question the relatives in all this,as to why they were so pushy.

I think he was under a great deal of pressure not only from the family, but his superiors. Did the family go higher up and complain that TJones was not listening to them?  I think the pressure eventually caused his superiors to remove him and place fresh eyes on the case?

 Either way Patti,I think " Taff " was more than pleased to see the back of the case. Poor man,didn't even get to enjoy his retirement.

nugnug I guess Taff was adamant that Sheila was responsible and I guess he nor his family ever changed their mind on that.

Whatever prompted " Taff " to arrive at his decision,we'll never know,but something did.

Could it be that he himself along with another officer checked all the windows and found then secured and locked? Or was there something else which determined his confidence that it was a murder suicide. Its a real shame that Taff did not live to give his side of the story.

nugnug I guess from what he saw he accepted 4 murders and one suicide but others higher up the rank thought differently and I guess this is why he was removed from the case as he would not change his stance.  Wonder had he not been accidently killed if he would have testified at the trial for the defence Bambergate is a good guy to talk to on this subject as I understand he talked to Taff's widow.
