And Susan maybe she made the whole thing up

Where were her tears ever?

She was an expert in deceiving everyone
The police
The relatives
Colin

Did anyone ever accuse her of being involved

There is no good supposing anything about Mugford unless you can prove when she is telling the truth
If not
It's likely she made the whole thing up
Only when she was being cross examined presumably? So the court had to be adjourned. I really cannot figure out why people keep defending this obnoxious woman? They sent Maxine Carr to prison for doing exactly what Mugford did.

Scipio I thought Jeremy was going to drug his family then set fire to the house then decided the antiques were under insured :'( so many different stories.
I'm afraid Susan that is all many of these scenarios are. Stories. You only have her word for it and no independent witnesses of what Bamber told or didn't tell her in private, yet I just cannot understand some people who appear so intelligent and yet they hang on every word this woman said and defend her blindly it seems?

Hello Mr. Gee I never believed he was going to drug his family and set fire to the house.  I actually don't think Jeremy Bamber was clever enough to organise and carry out such an act.

I agree that she is/was quite the actress but and I don't believe she told the FULL truth but that doesn't mean Jeremy didn't say he planned to kill his family.

Hello Caroline

maybe at one stage she was part of the plan after all she did get the sleeping tablets  for him and perhaps because of this he was confident she would never "grass" him up as she would implicate herself in the crime :'(
just a thought. She saw co-operating with EP would get her off the hook for her other offences and he could say nothing without implicating himself.Whatever was said during their phone call on the fateful night was just his and her word.

I agree Susan!

But in your opinion, she didn't do what Maxine Carr did.  :-\

Well no not exactly what Maxine Carr did. What Maxine Carr did was cover up for Huntley then owned up and told the truth. She was gaoled for perverting the course of justice in giving Huntley an alibi.

They had a strong case against Huntley though, and didn't need to make a deal with Carr. With Jeremy, they needed JM's testiomony to add to the rest of the evidence.
It's not ideal that she got away with likely nkowing more but proving she knew mroe would be impossible without Bamber and he was never going to tell the truth was he. Bamber - who killed the family - was the main culprit and ensuring he was arrested and charged for his crimes was the main goal, they needed Julie's testimony hence a deal.

Mat, I think what she did may have been worse that what Maxine Carr did. There was NO suggestion that MC did anything for personal gain........................just my opinion, for what it's worth :)

Maybe one day when Bamber accepts it is all over, he will tell the truth and in turn we'll finally learn who knew what and when.

Mat I agree with your post entirely they knew he was guilty and it was more important he was found guilty of the crime she was not actively involved just guilty by knowing about it.

I see Mat's point about them needing JM's testimony but MC knew NOTHING about what Huntley had done but they still put her in prison.

EP craftily used the carrot and stick approach with JM. What we don't know is whether she was offered a financial reward part-way through her statements.?

I'm surprised that nobody picked up on this as being a possibility. ::)

Jeremy Bamber got Julie involved in the robbery at Osea Caravan Park and thought that this would have been enough to assure her silence.  He was sorely mistaken.
