Alias he said he was in a hurry as the last trailer needed bringing back to the farm and he was doing it yet he had the time to load the rifle on the pretext of shooting rabbits but came in shortly after and said they had disappeared. According to AE;s statement him and Brett were loading the van with antiques from WHF to sell in London.
He didn't shoot anything, he didn't even fire the gun. There is no evidence he loaded the gun and went outside with it as he claimed. He couldn't just say I took the gun out and loaded it to play with it and left it in the kitchen for Sheila to find. So he made up the story about the rabbits as away to pretend the gun was there and even extra ammo for her pleasure. He didn't try to wipe down the shell casings though no prints ended up being found on them. In contrast one of his prints ended up being on the weapon. He told Julie a glove came off during the struggle with Nevill and therefore a print could have ended up on the gun. out of such concern could be why he made up the rabbit tale though he also wanted to make up an excuse to leave the gun out anyway because SHeial would not have been likely to go look for the gun herself.
I never believed that Jeremy went outside to shoot rabbits.I think perhaps the discussion inside was embarrassing or unpleasant for him, so he grabbed the gun and went outside on the pretence of hearing rabbits. Just needed an excuse to go outside.Did he claim to go out before or after he ate?
That would be a lame story to make up. Nevill, Sheila or June could have moved the gun to a safer place. That would be the logical assumption with children in the house.
and he wouldn't need to explain it all he would have to do is wipe the gun.and then no fingerprint would be found.
He had to draw attention to the fact that there was a weapon to hand and that ammunition was readily available.
The police would have been suspicious immediately if he had done that. Sheila couldn't have wiped it, she was dead and as she had just used the gun to shoot 5 people, her prints had to be on it.
Alias not really as Jeremy Bamber knew the rifle was still out when he arrived back at the farm it had not been put away by his parents
Wouldn´t that be a self given in a house with multiple firearms and no lockable gun storage?
