According to those who support the prosecutions successful prosecution, conviction and sentencing of Jeremy Bamber, as the sole perpetrator of these five killings, he was "motivated by greed" to get his hands on his parents estate(s). It is claimed that Jeremy invented a supposed telephone call received from his father (Ralph) in the middle of the night, alerting him to the fact that his sister (Jeremy's sister, Sheila Caffell) had got the gun, and that she had gone crazy, and that this invention caused police to believe upon entering the farmhouse and finding everyone shot, that Sheila had been the sole culprit and perpetrator...
Jeremy's intent then, had been to kill everyone, paving the way for his parents estate(s) to pass directly into his own hands...
Thrown into the fray, was the added twist that Jeremy's girlfriend, Julie Mugford, had later 'fessed up' to police, after separating from Jeremy, she told them that Jeremy had been planning to kill his entire family to get his hands on his parents wealth. Muford claimed that Jeremy had told her that he had paid a hit man, £2,000 to kill his family...
The fact is, however, that Jeremy ended up not inheriting his parents wealth, and nobody in their right mind would ask someone to kill five people, or to take on a contract to murder anyone for the measly sum of £400 per head. Mugford being a teacher, ought really to have been able to work that out for herself, that professional killers don't take on jobs like that for peanuts...
