Nice buy from England!
« on: December 12, 2013, 07:27:PM »
Bought some fabric for large curtains online. Just chose a fabric I liked and was a little afraid how it would look in "the flesh" and not just on pictures. WOWWWWW, I am smiling from ear to ear, it is BEAUTIFUL, I couldn“t be more pleased!!!
Turns out this fabric has a history, it was designed in 1881 by William Morris, a British designer, architect, theologist, philosopher, poet and many other things (!). He called the design Strawberry Thief inspired by birds that ate the strawberries he tried to grow in his garden.
I knew I could trust an English fabric.   ;D

Alias beautiful the colours so vibrant.  I have William Morris cushions, table mats and napkins similar to yours but background green. Willam Morris designs are very popular in this Country good choice.

Not sure I trust myself - should I butcher the fabric or have a professional make the curtains? On the other hand, I know how I want them to look, and you can do what you decide you can do, right?!
The fabric has the BEST quality and a bit of a shine to it - not much, just enough to make it vibrant.
Funny you have the same pattern, susie!

Just a small word of caution, Alias. Cut hair wrongly, it grows. Cut anything else......................it stays cut!!!

Alias are you good with a needle if so make your own as you know just how you want them.  In this part of the world check fabric very much in vogue I have just bought 18 Archie Green Check Roman Blinds.  I am quite boring and have same colour scheme throughout the house.

I have to think about whether I will have someone else sow for me...
I am all into check fabric. Are those the ones you bought?

It sounds like it will be very cosy!
We tend to have a lot of RED - not consciously, it is just that when I choose, I fall for the red. Fortunately the red in the Strawberry Thief goes perfectly with the shade of red we have some furniture and other things in. Otherwise we have no colour scheme - just a big old mess, LOL, we like it like that!  ;D

April, yes... it does seem intimidating, and they will be so large that I fear I will lose perspective and cut wrong.  :-\
