The older generation in Essex and certainly in Maldon at least was keep yourself to yourself and don't say anything unless you're asked. But at the same time they want to know everybody else's business.
Hi Grahame much the same in The Highlands see nothing hearing nothing but want to know all and if nobody tells them they make it up
If one dog barks it sets off all the others; if Bruce barked on hearing the bike coming, which I'm sure he would, I would be very surprised if Crispy didn't alert Ralph.
Hi Maggie I have a guy visits me (you know who he is) I call him Prophet of Doom because he brings me news of deaths bankrupt divorce yet to tell me anything cheerful but if you saw him he fits the part
I'm off out to Wales now,girls------------see you later.
Hi lebaleb quite right Bruce would hear anyone approaching during the early hours especially on a bone shaker of a bike and he would bark that in turn would set Crispy off and one of the family would have been alerted. Now if the perpetrator of the murders lived within the farm house Crispy would have remained quiet. Unless a dog is trained as a gun dog most dogs are terrified of gunshots and thunder and they hide anywhere they can under beds etc.
Morning Pattidogs have much more sensitive hearing than humans even the shape of their ears enables them to use them like radar and pick up sounds from different locations they are terrified of loud noises because they are much louder to them than us. Well unless your ears are different than mine your Sam will hear much more than you and could probably hear N/N on the phone
