I can't think of any other reason other than the obvious. They were finished with the carpets.

Bridget, whatever their reason, they must have sought Jeremy's permission for it.

They did..

So then we can conclude that EP concluded there was no further mileage in the carpets and sought permission to destroy them rather than become a repository for soiled carpets..meh

We now have this amazing scenario where numerous, naturally inquisitive detectives, senior officers and experienced scenes of crime officers not only fail to spot a staged body but have also displayed a staggering level of collective incompetence, by approaching the only informant of the incident, for permission to destroy his own crime scene?

Their approach to him for his signature wouldn't have anything to do with him having not long previously accused them of shooting his family would it?

I never used the word demanded, I just said he signed the order. Absolutely believe he couldn't believe his luck! Cremation was disrespectful at best, a good way of destroying evidence at worst.

Vic, if written instructions were left outlining their wishes following their deaths, then I entirely concur. To cremate someone who has requested burial in writing, IMO is appallingly disrespectful.

Why play even-handed on a forum, when you can instead take an unbending and ceaseless pro police / pro authoritarian stance on every aspect the case?

It's just occured to me that the form Jeremy would have signed would probably been worded along the lines of him consenting to their request to dispose of certain items, which is a whole world away from him "demanding" that they get rid of them.

Who said "demanding"?

If by pro police you mean irritated by the fact that they did not preserve every single sock cartridge case carpet fibre wallpaper sample speck of blood grain of sugar (insert endless in list here) for all eternity in order that JB could not later claim that their destruction was a plot against him then why not? Actually, they probably should have pickled the bodies and stored them.

Bless. Why did he go against their wishes and have them cremated. Why did he sign for the destruction of the carpets??? Why oh why.......
(1) Against whose wishes? (2) Why did they ask him if he would sign for the carpet's destruction? This was not his request, but the police's request.

  • What is in those 200 boxes?

So are you saying that a 24 year old who had just lost his entire family in a brutal manner should have had a more calm overview of the situation than seasoned police officers and said, no?
It is absurd to blame this on Jeremy, I have always thought that.

All the relatives with exception of Jeremy believed Nevill & Particularly June had expressed the wish to be buried, but Jeremy refused. The form, signed by Bamber, authorising the destruction was published on here.
