Hi NN No I pour the tea straight into the saucer and drink it as it cools much quicker but need the cup for the teabag as we are not quite posh enough to use teapots :) :) :)

Hi Caroline

The only two Southeners who refer to a 'book' as 'buk' are the Queen and Hyacinth Bucket pronounced "Bouquet".  But in every Southener lurks a little Hyacinth, even if only in the little finger one raises pependicular when sipping, usually Earl Grey, from a cup.  Of course in the North you have your big mugs of Yorkshire tea to slurp from which double up as a face wash to remove all the grime which continues to float in the atmosphere from the once successful industrial towns/coal mines.

The North has three redeeming qualities:

Landscape/areas of natural beauty
Manchester United Football Club
The Smiths/Morrisey

 ;)  ;D

Are mugs just a northern thing? Are you saying you use the 'special china' 24/7? Just bought a new mug actually (ebay - oh how I LOVE ebay!!) guess where it came from? Essex!! Someone down their is betraying their roots!! However, it is a bone china mug!!

I can think of one redeeming quality about the south - it's over 200 miles away!! ;) - JUST JOKING!! :)

I have a foot in both worlds.  Born a Southerner and brought up to speak the Queen's English.  Which was then beaten out of me by the brutish northerners  :D

Hi Roch

Could you now be described as a bit of rough then   :P :P :P

Hey Northern Girls

Do you get to ride your bike fast downhill over the cobbles as in the Hovis ad?  Is this the real attraction of the North: lots of cobbled areas and descents?

Patti I think I now understand why you're not bothered about having a man in your life.

That advert was not filmed in the north, it was filmed in the south and the voice portrayed is that of someone living in the south west.....lol

One wonders why you think not having a man in life is so important to this thread.....I wold love a man in  my life,  it's just that I am not looking for one, nor do I want one.  They all piss in the same pot!  :D :D :D :D :D

Patti when the right man comes along you will fall over him.  Do what I have done and try them from different parts of the Country then you will know who is the best :) :) :)  Thought the advert was too posh for it to be from Yorkshire Ha Ha Ha.  I love you my Yorkshire pudding. :)

Patti  you win the award for post of the day.  Always thought it was a fake Yorkshire accent not an easy thing to do take us Yorkshire folk off.  :) :) :)
