Hi Caroline. I think it was stated by Fletcher that the rifle malfunctioned due to mishandling.  :) :)

Thanks Patti - seems obvious to me!  :)

Perhaps the reason the rifle was 'stiff' after the event was 'because' Sheila didn't know how to use it properly and it was damaged as a result!

She didnt know how to use it properly? I thought she was an expert!!

So she was scared of Jeremy but STILL wanted him to take her home? You dont ask someone you're scared of to take you home!

Sorry Caroline I didn't explain it well. The situation was that Colin had drunk too much to be able to get behind the wheel and he suggested that Sheila ask Jeremy to take her home. Sheila felt uncomfortable but maybe didn't want to make a fuss so she asked Colin to ask Jeremy for her. I'm sure she would far rather have taken a cab. By the way, this was the party in which Jeremy, addressing Colin, called the twins "a millstone round your neck". I apologize to Colin for getting this the wrong way round in an earlier post.

What makes you think she would be unaware of where she was? If sheila had killed her kids in an act of altruism, she would have done just that. Killed them, not her parents. She would have done it in her own home then lay down with them, and kill herself IMO

Not if they tried to stop her!

No one ever said she was an expert - they said she had used guns before!

She would have waited until she was alone, obviously, so there would have been nobody to stop her.

You're talking how someone with rational thought might act - not someone suffering from psychosis!

Exactly - just look at what happened in America recently at the showing of "DARK KNIGHT RISES, 2012" when someone who had mental issues killed no less than 12 persons in cold blood. Any sane member of the public who was thinking straight wouldn't even entertain the idea of shooting and killing anyone, let alone 12 innocent victims? This serves to highlight why someone with a mental illness like Sheila was suffering with and from, could have and did carry out such acts, inside whf...

But Andrea if Sheila was psychotic she wouldnt know reality from her what her own mind was throwing up. She would be fighting her demons not killing her parents and her children.omo

Well, the fact of the matter is that police did think she did it at whf, and they put together a case file to prove that she did (SC/688/85), and the evidence that changed everything around is dodgy to say the least, full of inconsistencies, ambiguous and contradictory. No matter which way you turn to examine the evidence relied upon to support the correctness or otherwise of these convictions there is something which just simply does not hold water, or make any sense...
