Hi NN
Don't remember having any worry re. reading of June and Sheila's relationship, the reason I haven"t read the books is that I don't want to read a load of other people's opinions wrapped up as facts,  however, it may be time to reconsider and give them a go.
Although I don't dispute June and Sheila had a difficult relationship, my point of view is that relationships are complex and both Sheila and June's mental health illness complicated their relationship even more. I also accept that vulnerable Sheila struggled with her mothers dogma and lack of understanding. On the otherhand, i feel it's too easy for some to just say 'Sheila hated June, well what d'you expect she wasn't Sheila's  "real" mother'......I'm not suggesting at
all that you feel that way.
Anyway,  :) thank you so much for your kind offer re. books,  particularly your offer of free
delivery but I fear my 3 Great Danes, 4 house rabbits assorted cats....not to mention the pet rats
in the kitchen.....bear in mind the rats are caged ;D  may not be to your taste. ;D ;Dx

There's a rat in ma kitchen, what am I gonna do? Seriously though,I feel that Sheila desperately wanted Junes love. Of coarse she did! I also believe that June caused Sheila's mental illness by projecting her own mental health problems on to her. Sheila appeared to be an insecure child and therefore was vulnerable to "put downs" and "being judged". I hate to think of the impact being called a "devils child" had on Sheila, who very possibly already felt inadequate and unworthy. Allegedly,June constantly told Sheila that she was an unfit mother too!

I love kids and animals. The mess they make gives you a strong resistance to germs and bugs and strengthens your immune system.
I've just rescued a big toad from a fate worse than death near a water pipe,,,and put him in the garden.
My good deed for the day.

And Steve-uk rarely quotes Scott and when he does he misquotes him. Basically because by his own admission he has only skim read the book in Waterstones, probably with an already biased mind.
I haven't misquoted him at all:merely put my own interpretation of events on what Lomax writes as I'm perfectly at liberty to do so. I skim read the book but made notes, and if you want to criticize I suggest you furnish further detail.

I love children but I'm not keen on animals in the home at all.

Over the years I've found with my own children and others that regardless of all the toys, children love playing role-playing games ie customer/shopkeeper - parent/child - pupil/school teacher etc also I love asking them complex ?'s and they never say "I don't know" they always come up with the most amazing explanations!  Brilliant!  Hahaha a bit like some of the posters on this forum.
