CCRC submissions from 2004
« on: October 01, 2025, 10:31:PM »
Jeremy Bamber was represented by Giovanni Di Stefano in 2004.

Giovanni Di Stefano is a convicted fraudster and fake lawyer.

Is it fair to regard "new evidence" submitted to the CCRC in 2004 with a high level of suspicion? Particularly as the CCRC ruled on this in a written Statement of Reasons, which Jeremy chooses not to make public.

Discuss.

Technically Giovanni Di Stefano never represented anyone. Although he done legal work and laid the groundwork for the appeal strategy. He had to run it through a legitimate law firm and QC. In Jeremys case it was Paul Martin and Co.

"The claimant decided to instruct Mr Di Stefano to advise and act for him. Mr Alan Newman QC, who is the claimant's counsel for the purpose of these judicial review proceedings only, has explained that the claimant's intentions are as follows. Mr Di Stefano will from now on be the claimant's principal legal adviser in relation to the current criminal proceedings. Mr Di Stefano will take instructions in relation to mitigation and will take any necessary steps to prepare for the plea in mitigation. Mr Di Stefano will then instruct Messrs Attridge, a firm of solicitors, to act as his London agents and as solicitors for the claimant in relation to the hearing at the Central Criminal Court on 2 October, when the claimant is due to be sentenced." - R (Van Hoogstraten) v Governor of Belmarsh Prison

He was essentially working like an unqualified accountant doing financial auditing. Its permitted so long as there is a chartered accountant that is verifying and signing off the work.
