The Presidential Debate for the new Taoiseach. I can guess which candidate Roch, gringo and NGB1066 will be supporting. https://youtu.be/K_NKCJ58kz8

Catherine Connolly. Heather Humphreys is a Presbyterian and so will not attract sufficient support. Jim Gavin had to withdraw due to a scandal, but his name remains on the ballot paper. He will probably finish third, and once the preference votes are reallocated I'm pretty sure Catherine will emerge triumphant.

I am not an expert in Irish politics although at one time I visited often and I met Bertie Ahern a few times and Garret Fitzgerald once.  I watched a debate in the Dail and had lunch in the TD's dining room. It was interesting.

Catherine Connolly is endorsed by Sinn Féin, which is all you three need to know really. She has some very left wing views.

That's surprising. But you have far more in common with Catherine than you think: genocide in Gaza, a warmongering NATO, Northern Ireland is a "cut-off limb" of the Irish Republic.

You might not agree that Germany's increase in defence expenditure reminded her of the build-up to war in Nazi Germany. She managed to deflect her comments in the interview above by claiming she was worried about the military-industrial complex, which to be fair, most of us are.
