Who is calling her a hero?  I don’t think it’s about being a hero at all, it’s about failure of the British Justice system, something posters in here have always condemned, Two and half years for a tweet, that’s what this is  about and nothing to do with being a hero.  Some of the things said on here about the Bamber family have been horrible, or some of the accusations aimed at the likes of Vanezis have been scandalous,  should we jail everyone who makes a comment.  Freedom of speech is what this Country is built on, yes it was a wrong thing to say in the heat of the moment, show me someone who has never done the same.  It was a political motivated sentence with very bad legal advice given.

Sir Keir Starmer has been accused of hypocrisy ahead of Lucy Connolly's release from prison today. The Prime Minister supported the conviction of the mother-of-one for inciting racial hatred over a post on X about the Southport attacks, which she deleted hours later.

But it has now emerged that in 2013 when he was director of public prosecutions he introduced guidance for prosecutors to consider a more lenient approach to people who quickly took down offensive social media posts and showed remorse. Shadow Home Secretary Chris Philp told The Telegraph: “Keir Starmer’s enthusiasm for prosecuting Lucy Connolly appears to contradict his own guidelines. She rapidly deleted the message and showed remorse.

I can't help but compare the "set fire to all the f***ing hotels"  remark with the Jeremy Bamber musings on burning down White House Farm. If Julie was aghast she kept that sentiment to herself and argued against not out of concern for the victims who would be trapped inside but the destruction of material property within. Of course, none of this makes Bamber innocent. But it strikes a discordant note akin with the Lucy Connolly mitigation that she had lost a son in tragic circumstances. There was no mention of the victims of the Southport attack, nor did she confine herself to the perpetrator, but seemed to stereotype all immigrants as responsible for the atrocity. It's one of the most disturbing aspects of both cases; the maternal instinct, the milk of human kindness one associates with the female gender, sadly lacking where it was needed most.

Who can we blame if she does get a hero Status?   I hope she is treated as such now, you want to post your shit on here, yet you don’t defend free speech.  The woman admits she did wrong, the justice system let her down terribly in my view.  If the system is allowed to get away with these things half the posters on here would be locked up. 2.5 years sentence for a tweet, locked up and denied bail, fast tracked to a guilty plea in Court, she was told the starting point was FOUR Years jail, fucking four years jail for a tweet.

Let’s see the kind of sentences that is dished out to the 700 Palestine action support arrests, although I don’t agree with those being arrested, Starmer himself has made this into what it is and not Lucy Connely.

I think it was way over the top in terms of sentencing. The government is looking to remove custodial sentences in some instances following the review by David Gauke. I do not know what the sentencing guidance was for her offence. I think the Judge was more concerned by the prevailing environment of heightened racial tension and thought he would 'send a message' which was IMO misplaced and actually has made matters worse.

I agree, matters will now become worse.  Just like Bamber is a hero poster boy for some,   Lucy Connely will be the hero pin up girl for freedom of speech and two tier justice.  The big difference being, Bamber killed his entire family, Lucy Connely made a stupid tweet.
