Were the police suspicious of Jeremy at the start?
« on: May 07, 2025, 09:12:PM »
They say they were, but some Jeremy Bamber supporters might want to argue this was not the case and they are just saying that to look (less) foolish.

If none of the police suspected Jeremy from the start
If none of the police suspected Jeremy from the start, why would they begin framing Jeremy, especially given the risks? Unless it was all for a very considerable amount of money? Some of the police might have disliked Jeremy due to a personality clash or reverse snobbery, but this kind of thing happens in life all the time! It is hardly a motive to frame someone for mass murder, in a high-profile case.

If the police did suspect Jeremy from the start (or some of them did)
If some of them suspected Jeremy from the start, this had to be due to his story sounding far-fetched (father calls his son rather than the police and then his son calls the local police) and/or due to Jeremy's demeanor. That's quite damming in itself!

Who said they were?

I can't remember names, but one of the police officers who was with Jeremy outside WHF said "normally in this situation, he would expect Jeremy to be very emotional and really hard to control". Other police officers reported his behaviour at the funeral as being odd.

The most senior officer at the soc, Chief Sup Harris, signed the scene off as murder/suicide.  He was supported in his views by the police surgeon, Dr Craig.  Both men had decades of experience.

On 9th Aug the pathologist, Dr Vanezis, visited WHF along with various officers.  They had a candid discussion.  The only dissenter was DS Jones.  The pathologist found nothing to contradict the murder/suicide theory.

Surely the police surgeon was best placed to determine this.  He was a defence witness.

Bews, Miller & SJ are on video saying they were not convinced on the night.

There were probably others. Such as the officer sat in a car with him & Myall.

And when was this said?

DI Miller was not a dissenter at the 9th Aug meeting, just DS Jones.

Which is why none of them noted their concerns in their pocket books or statements and Miller allowed the bodies to be cremated.  ::)

What they say 25+ years on a documentary is not accurate.

I can confirm that one, from the very start, most emphatically, believed him guilty. Once he was allowed to talk about it, he and I had lengthy arguments because, at the time I believed JB was innocent. I suspect he was not alone.

Don't know why they would put it then. It was murder/suicide.

Bews said Bamber was offerring information. Bews saying 'that bumped things up a bit'.

Jones was not convinced at Bamber attempting to be sick.

But the police surgeon, who had decades of experience, and was far better placed in terms of his qualifications to make the call thought no such thing.

Who would you find more credible:  DS Jones v Dr Craig?

39. Dr Craig also saw the appellant outside the farmhouse. He said he appeared to be in a state of shock. At one stage he broke down and cried and he also appeared to vomit.

Trying & failing to vomit doesn't sound very convincing.

If his reaction was anything like Freddie Fox's, then not surprised police were not convinced.
