Nigel Farage and the Reform Party
« on: May 03, 2025, 06:31:AM »
Whatever you think of him he has achieved an outstanding local election result, taking votes from Conservatives in the shires and Labour in the Red Wall. Forget reducing Council Tax and emptying the bins: this election was primarily about immigration and people's dissatisfaction about the perceived abuse of asylum laws by economic migrants, primarily young men, who have paid huge sums to be trafficked across the Channel by criminal gangs.

If the two main parties hitherto do not get to grips with the mood of the country and continue to wind the clock down it's not inconceivable that Farage will be leader of the largest party in Westminster in 2029, or even Prime Minister. https://youtu.be/67qCOfjORhE

I agree with there being a state of emergency regarding migrants. It's beyond scary what is happening. However, I don't trust Reform.

Until the two old parties get to grips with the immigration issue Reform will continue to top the polls.

I've absolutely no faith in any political party solving this country's ever-increasing problems. They can't even stop knife-and drug-equipped drones flying into prison courtyards such as Long Lartin. With Farage it'll just be another case of change the name and do the same.
I have nothing to offer but blood, toil, tears and furballs.

I Agree Steve, I voted Reform not that I like Farage but it’s the only way to shake up the two mainstream parties.  I don’t think there’s a decent politician in the Country at the moment.

It's not an "only", Roch. Efficiency and controlling government spending, which has been out of control for years is a big job. Officially he will also be involved in policymaking, electioneering and media appearances.

Can you just imagine Starmer with his auto-cue prompt and nasal whine speaking so fluently, passionately and eloquently?  I hope that if Farage is ever elected PM, he's held to his word on serious issues of out-of-control crime, lax court justice and illegal migration, providing he doesn't kick the bucket early with his fondness for swilling countless pints of ale and 20+ a day smoking habit.
