JB is not a reliable witness.
The AM is incriminating. The jury would need to consider it being switched off or JB getting to it before it kicked in. Neither were put to the jury as there was no evidence JB had an AM pre murders.

If JB is telling the truth he relieved a call from Nevill. The only thing we can look at is that he was awoken by a phonecall. JB has quantified his usual ritual was to switch his AM off when he was in his house. His reasoning being he had no need to have it switched on when he was in as he was in to take phone calls
From my own experiences of having been awoke in the middle of the night and having a AM. I don't see it being as incriminating. As I said I used to share a landline with a similarity to a local taxi company which many people used to get mixed up with.
