The fostering conversation was part of his pre massacre narrative. Along with leaving a loaded rifle out.

He very quickly started mentioning leaving a loaded rifle out. As Bews said 'that bumped things up a bit'.

Good that he remembered. He must have assumed Nevill or June would not put it away.

The fostering conversation is a very viable thing. And as I've said I do believe it took place. Will not discuss every detail but it's a mutually beneficial arrangement for the Bambers, shelia and Colin.

Guilters automatically say " oh colin would never entertain such an idea " and I totally agree. However I believe June would and it was June's idea. Yes Bamber may have used it to bolster his " shelia got riled up over it " spiel but at the same time it's a perfectly valid conversation that June may have brought up. I believe it's true and if gulity he used it as an advantage.

The conversation may have happened at an earlier point In time when shelia was at WHF, June may have mentioned it and said such an arrangement would enable colin to find work.

Jeremy may have got his " millstone around your neck " idea from this when discussing Daniel and Nicholas at the party days before the massacre.

What is known for sure about the supper is  -

Sheila was still up. She also spoke to a relation on the phone. Meaning Bamber could assess her.

The rifle was left where he could access it later.

He had the option of checking on the twins & leaving the bathroom window ajar.

He rang Julie when arriving back at Goldhanger.

So she must have been still up when Bamber was there earlier. Which would have been important to him.

Yes, they had supper, Bamber was stood by the kitchen  sink eating a ham sandwich.

Believe this a truthful part of his him having something to eat at the farm, saves messing around at boutree cooking. He can go home shower and go to bed. Was probably his normal working ritual.

I struggle with this part of the of the story though  because although it is said all four are having a conversation the books have Nevill still out working.

Bambers rabbit scenario whilst he was in the kitchen is fanciful.

 I have mentioned this before. I don't see this as being feasible. Unless he had been outside prior and had seen two rabbits.

He would not see rabbits from a kitchen window unless the grounds were illuminated.

In this situation if his rabbit story is true he HAS to have gone outside for a cigarette, or have had gone outside prior to seeing the rabbits. But he also mentions he was eating a ham sandwich in the kitchen. Which does indicate he was squarely in there will preparing and then eating it.

In  hindsight it may have been better to suggest Sheila went into the gun cupboard and got a gun.

If he's saying she was capable of 5X murder, then she would be capable of getting a gun from the gun cupboard.

The rabbit story is very weak and all over the place. It is also relying on 3 people not putting a rifle away.

He told the police Sheila knew how to use the weapons inside WHF.

So to have her take one from the gun cupboard would not be unrealistic.

But once he had given some police the rabbit story, he had to stick with it.

The problem with the rabbit story is we have to believe -

Bamber saw rabbits. It was dark or getting dark.

Was motivated to go out and shoot them. After a 14 hour day. It was dark or getting dark.

Went outside minus silencer.

Went outside minus sights.

Fully loaded the rifle despite it having no sights or silencer.

Fired no shots as rabbits had gone.

Didn't put the rifle back in the gun cupboard.

June didn't put the rifle in the gun cupboard.

Nevill didn't put the rifle back in the gun cupboard before bed.

Nevill didn't put the rifle away again when downstairs at around 3am.

But he had decided beforehand this would be his narrative. Was quickly in a situation where he couldn't change it.

The crime scene evidence was Sheila had loaded, re loaded, chambered & breached the rifle,  fired 26 accurrate shots, fought and burnt Nevill. 

Bamber had said she knew how to use the weapons & told the police where she may be hiding inside WHF.

So it may have been more realistic to just suggest she had taken one of the rifles from the gun cupboard.

He can still insinuate Sheila by mentioning a fostering conversation, Nevill's call & her condition.
