I don't think cycling over rough ground in darkness would be much quicker than going on foot. Going on foot he would take a more direct route and could keep well clear of properties which he cannot do if cycling.

Well the Brook House Farm route was perfect terrain. But you don't believe he would cycle through Goldhanger.

Agree there were insects and 2 waist high styles on the Sea Wall route. This would not deter a highly motivated Bamber.

He would not go across fields as such as easy to loose your direction and depending on what crops were in them, but around the edges of them.

The Sea Wall goes along the edges of the fields.

This was wide and good terrain to cycle on. As several sources have shown. It was also an open area so there would be good vision.

Walking around the edges of fields would take too long and be too tiring.

This would be silently and in the dark. Wyke Farm is several yards off Pages Lane.

There is another left turn farm track before this which he could cycle down. This avoids Wyke Farm & leads to Pages Lane.

He cycles on Pages Lane. Wyke Farm is off Pages Lane.

Google Maps does show this.

There is another left turn off the Sea Wall which avoids Wyke Farm and leads to Pages Lane.

Farms have dogs which are usually kept in outside kennels and would kick up a fuss, I don't think Bamber would go near any farms. I have often set them off.

Remember when Bews and co arrived at WHF the dogs were barking.

Estimate his theory that Bamber zig zagged along the 'edge of fields' would take over 70 minutes.

Considering walking the Brook House Farm & Sea Wall routes took Wilkinson 45 and 70 minutes.

Would be very tiring. And that is just getting there!
