However I do feel Bamber would have cycled quicker than Wilkinson.

Espesically on the way back when he would be hyped up & wanting to go to the next stage.

Bamber's 15 minute estimation via The Sea Wall is a good one.

A round trip cycle ride of 30 minutes is a lot better than a walk of 140+ minutes.

And less tiring!

We have gone over the sea wall in great detail

You have gone from " he didn't use any lighting" to bike lights, torches, Christmas trees and couples in Surrey.

Thanks ILB.

Glad my tax is funding the bedsit payments.

I will ask Rob to retract when he is next on line.

No point spending 140+ minutes on a round trip walking The Sea Wall route, when it can be cycled in 30 minutes.

No point spending 90 -116+ minutes on a round trip walk of either of the 2 Brook House Farm routes. When it can be cycled in 18 & 14 minutes.  These routes don't even avoid properties.

Walking across fields is not possible.

I suspect Rob will dig in.

Hello Adam I have been away for a few days, digging in, retract what is all this?

I have not yet found a cyclist who would cycle full pelt over rough tracks in total darkness. I have not given up yet some of the chaps have really expensive bikes no chucking these over styles! I hope Kk unloads all his astro gear before he chucks his bike over!

I hope I have not got to wade through a load of poisoned posts have I to find out what I have missed?

Please read the post you have just replied to. Together with the previous 2 pages.

Walking across fields is not an option.

The other 3 routes will take too long to walk. Two of them pass multiple properties. Cycling would be the only option.

Ah I see that Wilkinson took 30 minutes to cycle the sea wall route and that was in daylight.

I bet you choked on your tea when you read that Adam?

Knew you would dig in.

Nine minutes per mile is too slow on good level terrain. Bamber's estimation of 15 minutes is more accurate. Wilkinson must have been cycling slowly and making notes.

Anyway, walking has been ruled out.

So has cycling now, he has to to the trip in 20 minutes.

Bamber cycled The Sea Wall. Which would have taken 15-20 minutes.

Walking it would take 70+ minutes and be too tiring.

He couldn't walk across the fields.

The average person cycles at approx 12 miles per hour, that is in daylight on smooth surfaces.

So at night on rough terrain with no lights would be at lot less than 10 mph.

Why? I walk across fields when footpaths have been ploughed over. A problem for a bike no problem if walking.

The last 2 pages has been dismissing your walking theory.

Walking The Sea Wall would take too long and be too tiring.

Walking across fields was not possible.

Maybe too long but not too tiring, 4 miles walking is nothing.
