On our way back from a wedding, we decided to take the country route. We stopped off at Heybridge for coffee on the sea wall. The first thing I saw, in very large letters, was "NO CYCLING"!!! Further on we stopped off at Osea Leisure. From the single field, it's expanded beyond belief to a place of some renown. Next stop was Goldhanger. From the exit at Head Street to the next exit at Church Street, took approximately one and a half minutes. From the Church St exit to the junction with Tollesbury Rd, took approximately five minutes, during which time we had to pause for traffic lights and were overtaken by three vehicles. My partner said he frequently cycled that stretch of the road from D'Arcy to Goldhanger where there was a beach. This was, however, in the 1940s.

I spend as much spare time as I can, cycling around countrylanes and bridleways and byways.  I carry my bike over styles, fences and god knows what dozens of times a year.

This whole thing is a non issue.

Bamber had 3 valid choices...

Drive, walk, bike.

Walking would take the longest time, so probably not that.

Driving was the least discreet, so probably not that.

Cycling was reasonably inconspicuous, and relatively quick.  And you can always get off and walk.  So probably that.

He could of used any of the above three and not have been seen, but he probably used a bike.

Nothing else could ever prove or disprove any of that. 

He admits to taking his mothers bike to Goldhanger a few days before the murders.  So the bike scenario is plausible.

Hanging out with an angry bloke from an internet forum under the cover of darkness is not something I'd recommend.

Really had 5 options -

Cycle the prosecution route - The Sea Wall, Farm track, Pages Lane.

Cycle the prosecution route. Turn off The Sea Wall to Pages Lane on the earlier farm track.

Cycle via Brook House Farm.

Drive.

Walk.

There is no street lighting on those roads and a bike is silent. It is also terrain built for cars so perfect for a bike. It is the quickest cycling route.

You do realise the event happened in 1985? Which de'ath is referencing, the sea wall of the time. Different times the 80s

De'ath knew Bambers route and routinely referenced it.

She was then attacked for this because guilters claimed she is lying because she had a caravan deal fall through with the relatives some years after the massacre.

Bamber is supposed to have made the journey in the early hours of the morning on darkness.

Please don't argue with Adam he is an expert of the vicinity in question. Despite also saying he has never been there in his life.

I don't agree a silent bike would result in dogs waking and barking. If cycling the Brook House Farm route.

However there would be a possibility of someone being outside on Head or Church Street.

As Killingeve said, Bamber would be highly motivated so would cycle The Sea Wall. Even though Yvonne said there would be insects on the ground.

He would cycle up Head Streer onto Church Street. Then cycle up Church Street onto Maldon Road.
