Berwick-upon-Tweed   Must say I really enjoyed it here when I visited for a holiday.  Once part of Scotland.
The Beaches were very good and even better half hour drive away in Bamburgh.

Yes, I have considered Northumberland, North Yorkshire, the North York Moors. I do wonder though whether these places might be a little cliquey; harder for a single man getting on a bit who doesn't drink to fit in.

I usually end up at the local church. Does anyone have any knowledge of Fort William? Not sure I could endure the amount of rain, though I could listen to the pianist all day. https://youtu.be/3_FOGU1GwLA

It's also the right season for Otoñal. https://youtu.be/xnD-THqOGEU?list=RDxnD-THqOGEU

Steve, why don't you retire in the West Bank?  You could probably pick up an abandoned Palestinian house for peanuts. The climate's good. It's in the holy land. You'd be surrounded by far right Zionists. What's not to like?

The West Bank will be the next flashpoint. I'd like to live a little bit longer, thank you. https://youtu.be/9i0PVvpx_wY

A possible retirement destination for Roch, gringo and Ngb1066. Note especially at 23:00 and 38:00 in, and a gym for Adam at 47:00. https://youtu.be/s-FbhEUdpGY

Revealed: The best places to retire to in the UK

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/travel/article-15279605/best-places-retire-UK.html
They all look attractive, though some of those places I feel you would need a car. Amersham and West Ruislip are on the tube, but a comparatively long ride. I wouldn't like to do the Tatton-Manchester commute, the only place outside southern England on the list. I wouldn't pay the congestion charge, which is a complete rip off.

Glorious November morning in Costa Teguise.  Only minimal clouds.
