The trouble with EU Countries Steve is the 3 month rule and the residency issue?
Panama is definitely on the shortlist. https://youtu.be/LLJSchh_DIoI might start going to the movies.
Another thing to consider Steve is the fluctuation in the currency, i remember a lot of Brits going to Spain to live and when the Pound fell against the Euro it caused a lot of hardship for some?
Yes that's true, but I think sterling has already fallen to its lowest. Panama uses the US dollar. It looks a bit like Deansgate, Manchester really. https://youtu.be/c_Ny1KLeFxY
Mmmm looks good, i must admit somewhere i have never considered, it always reminds me of John Darwin.
A Canadian discusses his experiences in Costa Rica. https://youtu.be/EWdqEQmxUo8
I nearly put to you Costa Rica and Canada?
Canada is a little too cold for me in winter, which seems to stretch endlessly from what I've been told. Costa Rica requires a monthly income of $1000, so on the low side for the retirement visa option.
I think Portugal is a safe bet Steve, climate wise and a little more suited to our lifestyle?

Yes I agree. The only snag is the language. I had some lessons from a guy from Madeira a while back. Though a Romance language it's harder than Spanish as there's a French influence to confuse, with some nasal endings.
