Julie Mugford the main prosecution witness was guilty of numerous crimes, 13 separate cheque frauds, robbery, and drug dealing and also making a deal with a national newspaper before trial that if she could convince a jury her ex boyfriend was guilty of five murders she would receive £25,000

As a matter of interest how would the judicial system work when a man may be deemed innocent of a crime for which he was convicted yet may still remain a danger to the general public? Maybe ngb1066 would care to comment.

A former partner of Bellfield's is able to recall the day of the murders as it was her 25th birthday and she insists he was with her for the entire day.

Possibly.  Apparently he has attempted suicide twice during the last couple of years.  The 'confession' might be attention seeking or a diversion from the monotony.

Apart from Bellfield's narcissistic character I wonder why he's confessed to this ? There's got to be something that police can trip him up somewhere along the way ?

so tone making an alleged confesion to a cell mate is enough to convict him but belfeild make a writing sighned onfesion int enough to let stone go the strange worldof the justice system.
