Timing - the dramatisation of CAL's book
« on: March 13, 2021, 10:56:PM »
Mark Newby has made reference to hundreds of thousands of pages of evidence being released, as a result of 30 years of PPI coming to an end.  That section of the authorities who hold an interest in the upholding of the conviction will have been keenly aware of the potential implications.  They will also have been aware that JB has limited resources and funds, which would hamper any speedy re-application to the CCRC.  I think they have tried to 'get in their first' in the intervening gap between release of evidence and referral to CCRC. The drama reinforces the official narrative, effectively, across a mass audience.  Clearly the new narrative that Newby makes reference to, would never be afforded the same resources to reach a mass audience.

For me, the appearance of the dramatisation in itself is proof of JB's innocence.

No it's acquainting people of the case, many of whom were not born when the atrocities occurred.

Absolutely correct. The CAL book reads as if Essex Police paid her to write it, and gave her access to documentation and photographs denied to Jeremy's defence. It appears also that Essex Police must have provided her with contact details of retired police officers and presumably acted as a liaison point with people such as Ainsley to give him assurances about his legal position.
In due course her book will need to be reclassified as a work of fiction on Amazon.

Do you realise how scary that is if true, the police going to any lengths to stop the truth coming out. Who or what one person orchestrated this whole saga

If I was Jeremy I would have revenge on my mind and how has he coped for over 30 years knowing the family, Julie Mugford and Colin have been building families and enjoying there lives
Julie Mugford the main prosecution witness was guilty of numerous crimes, 13 separate cheque frauds, robbery, and drug dealing and also making a deal with a national newspaper before trial that if she could convince a jury her ex boyfriend was guilty of five murders she would receive £25,000

That's why he'll never be released. Ann Eaton does not want to bury her children like Colin had to.

You idiot, if Jeremy is released it will be because there has been evidence to prove he is innocent. Anne Eaton, the rest of the family and Julie Mugford hopefully will face the consequences
If Jeremy is lucky Colin Caffell will go on national tv and apologise.

I've now sat through three episodes of this shite. I don't mind how 'Jem' is portrayed (even though I doubt it's a balanced portrayal). But the portrayals of Ann and Stan makes me want to puke. What a crock of smug shite.

Looks like the Roch account has been taken over by a foul-mouthed rating.

Mark Addy looks nothing like Stan Jones. I also see they left out the bit about the bottle of whiskey he helped consume when collecting the moderator.

Thought the drama was slow. Maybe because I already knew the story. Lots of scenes of Stan Jones looking thoughtful.

It was a good chance to do reconstruction of the massacre. It is easy to match the crime scene evidence to a scenario. The whole series was about the massacre, so disappointing it was never shown. They had made a big effort to make WHF look realistic.

It is not too gruesome. The programme was shown at 9pm. There are murders shown on TV every day. At least this was based on a true life event.

Apparently CC was an advisor & didn't want a reconstruction. Weak & lazy of ITV. They could have got their information from lots of other sources.

A good reconstruction of the massacre would have really made the drama stand out. As well as being a big blow to supporters.

Other docu/drama's have either not shown anything or just shown poor small bits of the massacre.

They should have invited you on the team as executive producer, Adam.  Given your experience with EastEnders and the soaps thread here on the Forum, it's clear you have the necessary expertise.  You could have also offered one or two of the actors moral support if they were wavering about Jeremy's guilt.
