Someone (I think Patti) asked about the black canvas shoes in Sheila's room mentioned by AE. They were apparently taken away by police officers who told AE not to mention that they had done so. Is this a woman's 'canvas shoe or a man's slipper??
-
I would say that it's most definitely a MAN'S slipper!!
-
It looks like a mans' slipper to me. They were arranged as a pair in the pic of June lying on the floor.

My guess is that it's a man's fur lined slipper...............but Steve will probably say it's a FLIPPER ;D ;D
-

I agree]definitely a man's slipper. WoW!!!
-
This is Sheila's room Lookout!!
If you look at the pic. of June in her bedroom ,on the floor,,you'll see a pair of those slippers.
-

Perhaps, but this is Sheila's room, they are sticking out from under the bed with her make-up on.

Unless it was possible that June also had a pair the same. Checked/fur-lined.
-
lookout where are you seeing slippers in June's room.
-
Perhaps, but this is Sheila's room, they have sticking out from under the bed she wasn't sleeping in
Caroline, I have previously suggest the possibility that under their normal domestic arrangements Nevill slept in that room.
-

Yes, but he wasn't that night
-
Yes, but he wasn't that night
Why would the police take them away telling AE not to say anything??
-
Yes, but he wasn't that night
No, he wasn't but might it be possible that he'd left some of his things in there. He may not have had the need/time for fur lined slippers as it was summer/harvest time.
-
Caroline that looks like a man's slipper and as the whole scene was staged how would we know how it got there. Obviously not worn as it would have had evidence on it and would have been destroyed along with other valuable items. Sheila's black canvas shoes must have been taken to destroy as maybe blood on them.
-
april according to steve it was a very warm night and that is why Sheila slept on top of the bed :'( think your theory could be right think Ralph would have his own room when Sheila was not there and maybe just left his slippers under his own bed. Wh knows somebody does but they wont share it with us :'(
-
Why would the police take them away telling AE not to say anything??
Curiouser and curiouser!
And why would AE say they were Sheila's canvas shoes when that is clearly a man's slipper?
What was she colluding with at this stage?
-
There was quite a bit of " say nothing " going on. What an investigation.!!!

It wasn't a particularly warm night Susie, that's why Jeremy was wearing layers, it was cool for August, just Steve's poetic license ;D ;D ;D
It's possible what april suggested, it's possible he had an old pair and a newer pair, bit strange tho ???
-

Bizarre indeed!
-
Hello HMEssex the trouble with this case we have so many myths and stories, destroyed evidence, cover up AE seems to have had a very active part in supplying her take on things but we don't know the truth only Jeremy Bamber was wrongly convicted and the scene was staged.
-

There is nothing else on the floor that could be described as 'canvas shoes' - I 'think' these are the items she was referring to and they are quite clearly men's slippers. They don't appear on the evidence list as either slippers or shoes????
-
Maggie steve had to have it a warm night as he states Sheila slept on top of the bed (her covers were not turned down) Jeremy had had a Radox bath (according to steve) after he murdered his family so probably cold when he went out so needed layers ;D ;D ;D ;D it gets better by the minute.

I know.
That's why we need to keep delving!
Rip it all apart bit by bit!!

Hi Caroline, I've probably missed the post of the date when this exchange between AE and EP took place, but when did this happen?

Where about on the floor did you see them Caroline, have looked on the photos in the archives and can't see them.
-
HMEssex you are right because people who get involved in cover ups always make mistakes and trip themselves up and we shall be there to catch them ;D ;D ;D
-

Post 7 of this thread, Maggie.
-

The picture isn't in the archives Maggie, I've just found it online. They must be the SAME shoes mentioned by AE - see the following .......
-
They would explain why Sheilas' feet were clean.
-
Hi Caroline, I've probably missed the post of the date when this exchange between AE and EP took place, but when did this happen?
I'm looking for it - I'll post the page when I find it :)
-

AE spoke about the 'shoes' as if they were Sheila's but they can't have been Sheila's, no way. How did they get there, I wonder?
Why did she find it so strange that Sheila didn't sleep in the bed by the door? AE is such a Miss Marples, d'you think she thought that was a clue??
-
I'm looking for it - I'll post the page when I find it :)
Caroline, why do you think it was that AE was "surprised to find that the bed nearest the door hadn't been slept in..........."?
-
Maggie to me neither bed had been slept in and why an earth would the police remake a bed that had been slept in I have never heard anything as infantile and stupid what is she talking about it is beyond me.
-

Have you EVER known a man to voluntarily make a bed?
-
Caroline, why do you think it was that AE was "surprised to find that the bed nearest the door hadn't been slept in..........."?
And why were the covers corrected by the police?!
-
Maggie to me neither bed had been slept in and why an earth would the police remake a bed that had been slept in I have never heard anything as infantile and stupid what is she talking about it is beyond me.
I thought that Susie and then I realised AE meant the one bed hadn't been slept in at all but Sheila had chosen to sleep in the farthest bed while staying at the farm, she must have slept somewhere before that night. I don't think Sheila had slept that night either. ;) ;)
-
april no I have not and for anyone to believe the police would start making beds when attending an horrendous murder/suicide scene is totally out of their tree she had a motive I am sure for this ridiculous statement.
-
I thought that Susie and then I realised AE meant the one bed hadn't been slept in at all but Sheila had chosen to sleep in the farthest bed while staying at the farm, she must have slept somewhere before that night. I don't think Sheila had slept that night either. ;) ;)
But Maggie, why was she SURPRISED that one bed hadn't been slept in?
-
Maggie the other bed was full of stuff her makeup etc she would have slept in the bed the night before and merely pulled the quilt up over the pillow as we do next morning I think it is logical that nobody slept in the other bed what is she talking about.
-
But Maggie, why was she SURPRISED that one bed hadn't been slept in?
I agree I posted asking that question at the same time you did. ;D
She seemed to be able to find Jeremy's guilt everywhere but I can't for the life of me make out what she's inferring concerning the beds.
-
april unless June and Ralph usually slept in that room and AE knew this she has got me confused now :'(
-
I agree I posted asking that question at the same time you did.
She seemed to be able to find Jeremy's guilt everywhere but I can't for the life of me make out what she's on about concerning the beds.
Maggie, if someone had said those words to me, the first thing I'd have asked is who else the expected to be sleeping in the room. Had she not already mention the room where the twins had slept I would have thought that she was expecting that they would have slept in the same room as Sheila.
-
april unless June and Ralph usually slept in that room and AE knew this she has got me confused now :'(
Susan, that's a VERY valid point.
-

I don't know it's a strange quote april, was she just waffling?
-
Maybe her coordination was so bad Susie that she meant to get in the bed by the door but missed and landed in the other bed ;D
As for you, Maggie, not only is that very naughty, it's also VERY hilarious ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
-
As for you, Maggie, not only is that very naughty, it's also VERY hilarious ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
I do apologise, I meant no disrespect to Sheila. :) :)
-
april maybe AE thought Sheila was sleeping in the double bed where her body lay before being put on the floor as she knew Ralph and June usually slept in the twin beds and as her body was found on the double bed she assumed that Sheila was using that bed if I am waffling ignore me.
-
I don't know it's a strange quote april, was she just waffling?
YES MAGGIE!!! I think that's exactly what she was doing. As I read it I kept thinking that the words didn't "speak right" Some of her phraseology just didn't fit, but I couldn't think why.
-
Maggie we know you would never disrespect Sheila it is AE's statements are just a joke it makes things seem funny Ha Ha.
-
Maggie/april think she is a better waffler than me ;D ;D ;D
-
Maggie you are on form tonight my girl ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

I have to say that's a good thought Susan, it is a possibility, especially as Nevill was having trouble with his back and maybe was more comfortable in his own bed, so they spread out into the other room as well.
It reinforced the fact she told Julie that Sheila was found on the bed in the main bedroom.
Ralph must have usually slept in there because there was no surprise from AE that his slippers were by that particular bed.
-

You know, I just can't see ANYONE being in the know about June and Nevill's sleeping arrangements, but it's possible, that having been told that Sheila and June had been found together on the double bed, she jumped to some sort of conclusion, but at the moment I think my brain's gone AWOL. ;D ;D ;D

June may have told Pamela and Pamela may have told AE, not for any particular reason except it may have come up in conversation???
-
YES MAGGIE!!! I think that's exactly what she was doing. As I read it I kept thinking that the words didn't "speak right" Some of her phraseology just didn't fit, but I couldn't think why.
I wonder if her phraseology was designed to deliberately confuse readers (police)?!
-
Maggie think it is quite common for more mature couples to have twin beds or indeed different rooms and I think that was the case when they did not have guests staying but AE assumed Sheila was sleeping in the double bed as that is where she was told her body was found.
-
So, what do we think about 'the 'shoes'??
-
april maybe AE thought June and Sheila were sharing the double bed but think she just talked for the sake of it.
-

I agree, I think it's very possible they were either in twin beds or different rooms when alone. Snoring or other disturbances is quite a common reason for separate rooms.
-
So, what do we think about 'the 'shoes'??
Why did EP need to secrete them away under the watchful eye of AE?
-
Maggie or indeed separate houses ;D ;D ;D

Howz about this. Because of his back, Nevill needs the space afforded by a double bed and JUNE sleeps in the single bed. I don't think she would have minded saying that, for "medical" reasons, they slept in different rooms and Ann expected that she would have shared the single bedded room with Sheila.
-
Why did EP need to secrete them away under the watchful eye of AE?
I don't know but there had to be something about them that interested them??

Exactly!

1, 2, 3, AND ........ back in the room!! So, what about the shoes?????? :P :P :P :P :P :P :P :P

Exactly!
I'll keep digging!! I'm still looking for the statement page - I'm getting square eyes

Oh don't worry - I could easily look for it myself!
I was hoping it was a fairly recent post.

And what about the Teddy Bear (sorry couldn't help it) who did he belong to? Where did he usually sleep :)

Shoes? Shoooooes? AH, it's starting to come back to me now ;D You wanted to know why the police took the shoes/slippers but asked Ann to keep shtum about it. Caroline, I can't give you a defin itive answer because I'm not even certain that she was telling the truth about it.
-

It was a rhetorical question anyway. But there MUST be more to it!!
-
You'll find a part statement ( AE) of the said canvas shoes in the " Diary entries of a Conspirator " thread,May 2011,,and a post by the marvellous Smiffy again,(,no.105). Where's Smiffy,,I ask myself.
-

Caroline, like so much more about this case, you can take your choice between between mucking fuddle and myth.
-
Thanks Lookout!!
-
well now it seems the twin room was the usual room for June and Ralph and AE thought Sheila was in the double as that is where her body was found but AE did not know that they had changed rooms.
-
So the slipper is not the same as Sheila's shoes as the shoes were by the wardrobe? Are there any photo of these?
EP still said "You haven't seen this".
AE's statements just ramble.
Hopefully, EP have better typists these days who know how to spell (not use homonyms), and understand grammar and punctuation. The lack of all this leads to so much confusion. Complete dimwits. It would be funny if it wasn't so serious!

I beg your pardon!
Same shoes/slippers :)

Where does it say that Susan? She refers to the 'spare' room as Sheila's room and describes seeing lumps on 'the' bed in June and Neville's room. I haven't read anything that suggests they slept apart and the double room is always referred to as June and Neville's room.

I can go with the possibility that maybe Neville has been sleeping alone because of his back but he's a big man so would imagine the big brass bed is probably a long bed to accommodate his height. He's be far too long and very uncomfortable in one of those single beds.
So why are his slippers in the spare room? Unless they were moved from the main bedroom by the police but why would they be?

Hi Maggie, the point is that AE said they were Sheila's shoes and the police took them away asking her to keep quiet about it.

I know but they can't have been Sheila's shoes/slippers, that's crazy.
-
I know but they can't have been Sheila's shoes/slippers, that's crazy.
It's only crazy because now you know what they look like - previous to seeing the picture you would have assumed they were just female shoes. Perhaps that's what we're supposed to think BUT the police saw fit to take the shoes next to the wardrobe and to say nothing. I see no other shoes next to the wardrobe and no mention of Neville's slippers being in that room. Why aren't the shoes/slippers on the evidence list? I don't know what it means either but something isn't right.
-
It was Jones, Miller and Cook who took the shoes/slippers on the same day as they took paint samples from the fire surround on 14th August.

So if I was guessing Caroline, I would maybe think there was something on Sheila's canvass shoe's the police wanted to conceal.
-
So if I was guessing Caroline, I would maybe think there was something on Sheila's canvass shoe's the police wanted to conceal.
Possibly but I just can't get my head round why they didn't want anyone to know they took them and also not include them on the evidence list?
-
Morning Caroline AE's statement is a tad confusing and I am not sure which beds she is referring to but would assume it was the single bed near the door as if you look at the bedcover on the double bed it was all messed up the single bed was untouched and she says when I pulled back the cover I found bed linen (as if the bed would be made up once Sheila had left) All so confusing but then again how accurate was AE in her statement.
-
Hi Susan,,I found yet another bedroom last night while I was doing my googling. The bed looked like a three-quarter one ( same size as my own ) and it had bow ends in brass. There were all kinds on the bed,,including a phone which had been dis-connected. I must try and find the thread, which is on this forum from 2011,I think. It was a very clear pic. taken after the tragedy because there was no carpet,,and it was obvious that either someone had moved in,or was just about to move in,,by some of the articles on the bed,and a jacket/suit hanging up at the back of the door.

Hello lookout another bedroom to confuse me more :'( but would like to see it ;D

Hi Maggie,,I'm trying to track it down now. On top of the bed among other things,,was a letter from the police,as you can see their " stamp " on the front of it.
-
Ha Ha lookout go for it Miss Marples ;D ;D ;D
-
There is another thread from June 2011------Case Related Photographs. There are lots of pics,,in fact 3 pages dedicated to all the families. The said bedroom is included,,but not as big a picture as I had last night,,neverthless not less interesting. Very sad pics.

Lookout/Maggie/Susan, HI :) You girls are amazing. I can never decipher ANYTHING in those grainy pics, nor have I ever been able to READ anything from the handwritten notes which are posted. Thank God for Jeremy's block capitals, I say, WHATEVER Steve thinks they signify!!!!!!!
-
Hello april I am not amazing just follow the flock and look at what they have posted none of it is my find :'(
-
I think the photograph you are referring to is the main bedroom after the Eatons moved in. EP went back (can't remember what year) and took the carpet up to test the bloodstains. Is the photo a shot of the bed and the door to the box room (that side of the room)? If so,then that is defo the main bedroom. I don't think there are any photo's of the other two bedrooms (Jeremy's and the twins) in the public domain.

Hi April,,amongst the Case-Related pics,,are a couple of pics of Sheila,,which I hadn't seen.Interestingly,in the position she's lying, her right foot must have been soaked in blood,as you can clearly see the amount underneath. Also,, the pic shows her broken toe nail.
It's surprising what you find when googling. ;D ;D

Not the bow-end bed I was thinking about, but not to worry,,that would be in another room. I'm entitled to get mixed-up now and again.

I think Sheila's black canvas shoes were taken due to having blood spatter on them. Why else take them? I agree that is a man's slipper in the photo that Caroline posted. Looks like a courdary type with a furry inner. Doesn't that kind of place Nevill in Sheila's bedroom at some stage that night? I also noticed the piece of paper under the bedside lamp. I take it that was the note with the Please and 3's?
Also, note how Sheila appeared to like the colour blue. Blue clothes on the bed, blue eyeshadows, blue nightdress etc. I think it is fair then to assume that the pale blue socks photographed with Sheila in the main bedroom were indeed hers? Then there is the blue item of clothing hanging to dry over the bannisters. Unless it is the lighting conditions, the item does not look to be fully dry, which is interesting. We also have the blue item of clothing on the floor in the laundry room and was there a blue item of clothing near the bin in the kitchen?
In one of the documents on the forum,(maybe something to do with Paul Terzeon)there is reference to a robe with blood on the sleeve. I wonder who did this belong to,could Sheila have been wearing some kind of robe/dressing gown at some stage?

Hi Tyler, it's unusual that no one mentioned the slipper(s). AE mentions the shoes so why didn't she mention the slipper or the fact that Neville's slippers were in Sheila's room.
Anyway, here is a better picture of the socks
-
Hi Caroline. Jones and Cook probably removed/got rid of the slippers before they handed the house back over! What fascinates me in the 'socks' photo you have kindly posted is that the blood spatter is all around the rug, appears to go under the rug,but there is NONE on the rug. The only conclusion this can draw is that the rug was put there after June had bled there but before Sheila had lain/been laid there. But why?

Hi tyler, have noticed before that the rug Sheila's lying on does seem to have been placed on the carpet before Sheila was then placed on it. The blue socks surely have to be hers?....what a farce!!

Hi Tyler, it's unusual that no one mentioned the slipper(s). AE mentions the shoes so why didn't she mention the slipper or the fact that Neville's slippers were in Sheila's room.
Anyway, here is a better picture of the socks
The socks also seem to have been placed on top of the clean rug that Sheila was lying on. Why did anyone bother to do that?

Hi Caroline. Jones and Cook probably removed/got rid of the slippers before they handed the house back over! Maybe but then they should be listed in the evidence?? N
Is this spot on the rug? (1st pic)
The socks might have been put there after the blood spatter because one of the spots looks to be partially under one of them (2nd pic)

I don't know how large were Sheila's legs but from the straight edge of one of those socks, they look more like the leg of a pair of jeans.

I wonder if Sheila's bedroom was checked for blood drops?
This scene was staged by EP, along with the bible and the rifle, at a time when it was officially four murders and a suicide. Why? To cover up basic or strategic mistakes made by the firearms team, perhaps, and who thought it wouldn't matter as Sheila had shot herself anyway.
Later on they colluded to say it was JB who set out the scene.
As an aside, I can't remember the last time I wore socks, but when I took them off they always ended up inside out in a sort of 'ball' - especially long ones, and not neatly placed on top of each other!

HMEssex the socks look to neatly placed for somebody to have taken them off and dropped them on the floor they were placed with care methinks :(
