Tesko files - David Boutflour, killed old lady in road traffic accident, news...
He also shot another relative in the face during a shooting incident, which family hushed up:-
-
So,according to Jeremy,Ann Eaton's previous home,Oak Farm, was leased. She didn't actually own anything. And Carbonells Farm was rented by Pam and Robert Boutflour from Mabel Speakman, and David Boutflour had to borrow 200k in order to purchase a farm. Where then is the wealth that the Boutflours/Eatons are purported to have had prior to the Bamber deaths?
-
And what aspects of Pargeter's statement were changed?

A curious post Tyler, as you yourself wrote to Jackie Preece a couple of years ago, confirming that you knew full well that Oak farm is owned by Ann & Peter. It is still owned by them now.
How curious that an 'innocent' man should tell lies about his relatives....

So, your saying that David Boutflour did not run over an elderly lady with his motor vehicle and kill her, and you are also saying he did not shoot anyone in the face?
Why doesn't David Boutflour speak for himself regarding these matters?
-
Another thing, according to Jeremys letter, after David Boutflour got married, he started dating Sheila, albeit in this letter of Jeremys, he says he doesn,t know if they became lovers - so we now find out, that there was more going on behind the scene, between David Boutflour and Sheila Caffell. How remarkable, that he should be the one person who found the crucial bloodstaine and paint contaminated sound moderator used to kill her...

Did David Boutflour have a personal and financial motive to want Sheila dead?
-
In view of the nature of this case, and David Boutflours role in it, I think the public in general have a right to know if these allegations made by Jeremy in his letter are true, or not - lets hear it from the horses mouth himself, did he run down an elderly lady with his car and kill her? Did he shoot someone in the face with an air rifle, were he and Sheila Caffell dating eachother at one time? Were they lovers?

Morning Mike. I can't, for the life of me, think why none of this was used by the defence as a way of undermining the prosecution's case. At the very least, it would have thrown a shadow over the family's integrity. I can only believe they were so sure that Jeremy would "walk" they didn't bother to put the icing on the gingerbread.

What I'm saying, quite categorically, is that what Jeremy is saying about Oak Farm isn't true and hopefully one day, you might realise that he doesn't always tell the truth.
-
My goodness me.
-
"Helping police with their inquiries" throws a whole new light on the reason why.
-
To be quite honest Vidvic,I don't actually know who owns Oak Farm as I haven't seen the deeds and have no desire or business to. What I did know at the time was that they owned land there,so assumed they owned the farmhouse too. I hadn't considered the possibility of any part of the farm being leased. I believe NGB previously told you that he did some kind of search, but I don't remember what the results were.

So, when jeremy wrote this letter to me, mentioning that David had killed an elderly lady who was innocently crossing the road, but who got knocked down by him, driving along too fast without due care and attention, resulting in this poor lady dying from some appalling injiries, you are saying that Jeremy is telling the truth about that...
He is also telling the truth, isn't he, about David shooting someone in the head with a rifle, isn't he?

All we know from the letter is that David was (or may have been) involved in a collision with an old lady who died and in a separate accident a cousin caught a few shot gun pellets in the face.
-
Shot him in the eye. I believe the letter says it was Robert Howie.
-

It said he had a pellet removed from his eye among other places. I met a bloke at a shoot once who had had the same thing happen (it may even have been him as it was in that area), it looked a bit like bad acne scarring.

May possibly have been Bridget,it is a small world! Thinking about the conversation BW said that she had with Nevill, when he stated to her that the shooting season was coming up and he feared losing his life in a shooting "acccident",or words to that effect,I have said this before, but,he clearly was not referring to Jeremy as he didn't tend to attend the shoots. Could he have been referring to a member of his "usual" shooting party. Do we know who his "usual" shooting party consisted of? Was one of these people the person who Nevill felt threatened by?

Two very serious incidences though surely? Which it appears the family were very successful in covering these two things up. If I killed an old lady on the road the whole community would hear about it in the Maldon and Burnham Standard. I don't remember reading about this at all. But then of course it is "Jeremy" who is saying these things and as Vidvic would say, "Oh it is Jeremy (implies the well known liar) who said it". But of course we only reject hearsay when it comes from either Jeremy or his friends and supporters don't we. Everything the "family" says is always to be reveared as gospel. ::) But carry on. You are doing very well with your policy of simply "dismissing" things you don't like.

Oh! that wouldn't be some of the "hearsay" that Steve-uk has been putting about is it Tyler? But oh I forgot. It was put about by one of the friends of the relatives. Silly me it must be true? ::)

Very good question tyler. I cannot for a moment believe Neville would have been so laxidasical with his gunsafety if he felt Jeremy was a threat to anyone's life with a gun. It had to be someone over whom he didn't have control that he was thinking of. Would be interesting to know who was a regular member of Neville's shooting party.

I'd have to reread that conversation to put it into context but I seem to recall thinking it was probably a joke remark related to JB's wish to purchase a 5 shot automatic shotgun; but either way I very much doubt it was anything at all to do with Neville fearing JB intended to kill him.
-
No Bridget, according to BW it was no "joke remark".The conversation was said to have taken place in his office.BW said that Nevill had appeared to be depressed and asked her to promise to look after the farms interests should anything happen to him. She says she was worried about him but that he "didn't want to burden her with his problems".

Where is that, is it Wilkes book?

Bridget, very possibly. I read so much that I cannot always remember where I read it!

I'm a bit like that, frustrating isn't! I'll look in the book later.

I noted that NB had " scars ",,one on his neck, and one in his groin. I can only conclude from that, that he had some sort of an investigation concerning bloodflow ( carotid artery area ) and heart ( angiogram in which is performed via the groin to the area of the heart ) so I wondered if he had any heart problem.
-
He may have had an investigation Lookout, but if there had been anything wrong with him medically,it would have been revealed at the pm wouldn't it? I think they were all deemed as pretty healthy?
-
Where is that, is it Wilkes book?
After she promises to look after the farm, she asks if he is seriously ill and he said
"No, but I don't think I've got long"
"What do you mean? If you're not ill, what's wrong?"
Neville Bamber drew on his cigarette, swallowed deeply and blew a cloud of smoke above his head. "There is so much to tell Barbara," he murmured. "But I can't bother you with all that. It's not your burden. But id anything were to happen to me, you will promise me you'll do that?" (Look after the farm).
"Yes, of course I will."
"Of course" he addes, "the shooting season's coming up." Neville Bamber just sat and looked at her. Then he said, "Living on a farm is a dangerous place and one never knows what's going to happen ..."
His voice trailed off and he looked away.
"Do you have a premonition?" asked Barbara Wilson.
"Well, perhaps. But one never knows. I could go out one day shooting and you never know do you? These things do happen. You never can tell.
-

Tyler,,it was just the fact about those two particular areas of scarring which made me think of even as little as a " blip ",,which doesn't always indicate that the heart itself is diseased. As we get older,we experience the odd dizzy spell perhaps or a touch of angina ( warning to slow down ) but nothing to say that you've got one foot in the grave.
NB's " worries " latterly may have brought on chest pains of stress which are similar to having an angina attack. He may have felt the need of a checkover,,and as such would have gone privately,so no fussing for NB,he wasn't that kind of chap.

Thank you Caroline, what do you make of it? I've found it in the book and it's preceded by such comments as 'Barbara Wilson looked into the careworn face of Mr Bamber..', which suggests to me a fair amount of poetic licence ;)

To be honest, I don't know what to make of it, it sounds like something you know who (cough!! Steve_UK) might have written. Perhaps he mentioned something but it's hard to determine truth from flowery nonsense :). I don't think Barbara Wilson mentioned this at the time or did she?
-

Maybe Steve IS Wilkes.....it all sounds very familiar!! ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
-
Thank you Caroline. And if I remember rightly,Wilkes tries to attribute Jeremy as to the cause of Nevill's fears and depression. I wonder what was Wilkes' source of the conversation? Did he take it from BW's statement? If so,he doesn't mention in his book that BW actually held a lot of affection for Jeremy, saying in her statement that she considered him more of a son to her than her own son. And people say that Wilkes' book is not biased!
-
I know that you're only having a laugh and poking fun at him.. an dhe probably doesn't care about your comments...but aren't you two meant to be mods?
:-\

Bridget, Hi. I can offer two explanations. The first being, that if NB was being weighed down by such a huge burden it follows that he wouldn't have been dancing a jig at the time so careworn is acceptable........just :D The second is that Steve turns up in the most unexpected places ;D
-
I've actually purchased my very first " Bamber " book. It's in the post and should be with me tomorrow.
I'll be doing a bit of referring from the said book as my brain's getting worn out somewhat. ;D ;D ;D ;D

I feel the same about it. If she did mention it at the time I don't think I've seen it.

Lol, you're going to get told off by Mat too now.

Not meaning to tell them off. :-[ :-X

Actually, no, I'm not having a laugh. It is my opinion that Steve does write like that. Mod or not, I am still allowed an opinion and I will express it how and when I like - just as you do. If Steve has a problem with that, I will leave it up to HIM to tell me!!

Just putting the dampeners on?

But you do constantly mock and goad him. And you've just admitted you've not doing it for a laugh. Others would get into trouble for such comments because they don't have mod colours to hide behind.
If people see you goading Steve then others starts to do it too and it just looks unpleasant.
-
I am interested in the details of the intimate relatoonship between David Boutflour and Sheila Caffell - whether or not they became lovers, and if any of the abortions / miscarriages related to that relationship? I think June once caught the pair frolocking together in the barn, apparently they were caught making hay while the sun shone...

Speaking personally, I have no problem with Steve. Why should I? I don't know him. For all I know, he could be having a laugh at our expense by playing Devil's advocate. That doesn't mean to say that I agree with anything he says. In fact, in conversation with him, I have been known to describe what he says as "Ballcocks", but he is more than capable of standing up to me and/or anyone else who challenges what he says, and he frequently does, as is his right. Also, I wouldn't say Steve is totally averse to a little goading.

Mike,,do you honestly think that you'll ever find out.? I'm not questioning your ability to do so,BTW.

Firstly, I think that's rich given the source, however, if people have a problem with me as a mod, they can complain - I'll take this as the first one. Anyone else?
Steve is a grown man, not a child and would be the first to admit that he likes to write in a dramatic manner. Given that Bridget and I were discussing the manner in which Wilkes writes (which is in a dramatic manner) how in gods name is that 'goading'? Seems to me you think you think you have smelled a little blood, so thought you would take a nibble. ::) ::)

I was wondering how long it would take..
The frolicking was with a farm worker if I recall correctly.

Mike,DB admits that he took Sheila out,but lovers? I think that June would have had Sheila exorcised if that were true. But then,Sheila's diaries did get handed to the relatives as police said that what they contained had the potential to cause embarassment to the living relatives.

They'll be well burned, tyler. Probably went up in blue smoke. Pretty incriminating stuff.

Incriminating who of what, Lookout?

Diaries usually are Mat..Little secrets that you don't think anyone else will see. That's why I don't keep one.! Sheila was probably tempted to " tell-all " in her diaries,,as well as the way she felt healthwise.

Can be a bit of both,Mat. Most people burn such things as they get older, fearing that after death, nobody really knew what that person was like.

Hi lookout I have never kept a diary and never would. For me to read back some of the things I did in my twenties I would be horrified this way I can pretend they never happened ;D ;D ;D and pretend to be a paragon of virtue 8)

No,,I wouldn't keep a diary either for that very reason. 8) :o

I actually whole heartedly believe Jeremy when he talks about the death that David Boutflour inflicted upon this poor elderly lady, and the fact that David Boutflour shot a relative in the face. I discussed these and other things with Jeremy on visits which took place after he wrote this letter, and some of the things I learned through speaking to Jeremy about the relatives, are too sensitive to talk about, but if anyone is prepared to twist my arm up my back, I may be forced to tell all, just for the sake of completeness...

It sounds to me mike the authorities went to great length s to ensure this was airtight at the trial of jeremy, among other things, DB got quite stroppy i recall on that half hour documentry , i dont know of any instance of jeremy using firearms to give him the upper hand in disputes, quite the opposite he would most likely get the 7 bells of s knocked out of him.

Ok, if I said, "in breeding", what would that mean to you, in the context of this case?

Well it wouldn't come as any surprise,Mike. Knowing what I know.

and so the slander begins...... All from Bamber saying that DB took her to dances.....this isn't seeking the truth, it's making things up!

Well it wouldn't come as any surprise,Mike. Knowing what I know.
Well, I had several lengthy conversations with Jeremy on visits after he wrote this letter to me. You see, I was very interested in the probability that David Boutflour dated Sheila, after he married Karen. Well, what I was told absolutely blew my socks off, nobody would believe what has been going on in that neck of the woods, but "in breeding", is the key phrase - they apparently like to spread it about, amongst themselves, that is the gist of what Jeremy conveyed to me...
-
and so the slander begins...... All from Bamber saying that DB took her to dances.....this isn't seeking the truth, it's making things up!
If it has nothing to do with the case I'm not interested personally but I would still like to know about the panic button. I'm beginning to feel as though I'm hounding you, if there is no evidence then please just say so. Seeking the truth and providing evidence for ones claims should surely be relevant to both sides??
-

Be careful what you are saying, I am not making anything up, I am only reporting what Jeremy has told me, now I am within my rights to say what he told me, if you or anybody else has got a problem with what Jeremy has told me, I suggest the only way to resolve what he told me, is to get DNA tests done, to prove what Jeremy has said, to be a lie...
First of all, why are you on the defensive, before I have even begun to repeat what Jeremy has told me...
Do you know something I don't...

It isn't slander. It's libel.

I'm really sorry Caroline, i didn't intentionally ignore your question, just got side tracked about this photo which was claimed to be a video....
I have no documents to say it was active (none of us have do) but I have read somewhere that it was mentioned at trial and is mentioned in at least one of the books. I have personally seen it and can tell you that Peter and Ann believe that Nevill was trying to get to it because of the positioning of his watch. I don't believe Peter and Ann would make up that story for the hell of it so that is why I firmly believe it was active before the murders.

Do you mean Nevill's watch? Was this not found under the mat in front of the sink? ;) :) :) :)

I can't remember where it was now, but it must be on here somewhere.

I thought we weren't meant to talk about the positioning of the panic button?

Hi Caroline with regard to this panic button Ann and Peter said it was in situ Jeremy said it was installed after the murders. I am trying to think of a reason why either parties should make this story up. Any theories anyone. EP would know but bet they would not tell.

Was it mentioned in court? If it wasn't then I doubt that it had been installed before the murders or it would have been mentioned before the murders.

Hi Mat don't think we are meant to disclose where it is exactly but really only Vic knows its exact location and for the sake of the family he does not wish to disclose its exact whereabouts on the forum which I can fully appreciate.

Hi, Susan.
Thanks for clarifying. I remember a few people had postes amended months back and were PM'd and asked not to talk about it - but that was a long time ago and I have slept since then. ;D

Hi Caroline with regard to this panic button Ann and Peter said it was in situ Jeremy said it was installed after the murders. I am trying to think of a reason why either parties should make this story up. Any theories anyone. EP would know but bet they would not tell.
Hi Susan :)
I remember reading ages ago that the panic button was fitted, but it was not connected...Not sure about it at all. I can't see a panic button being near the sink, because that is where the watch was found...Its a mystery! :-\ :) :) :) :)

Was the watch found near a mat near the sink, or under a rug closer to the table?

Hi, Susan.
Thanks for clarifying. I remember a few people had postes amended months back and were PM'd and asked not to talk about it - but that was a long time ago and I have slept since then. ;D
I think someone posted the location of it in error? It would be wise not to talk about it much I agree.
-

I'm sure it was under the mat in front of the sink. I have asked several times what happened to the watch, because it was damaged. I'd be interested in knowing at what time the watch stopped or if it had stopped at the time it was damaged.... :D :D :D :D
-
Hi Patti/Mat I thought the watch was found under the rug near to where Ralph was found near the Aga (steve uk said he hid it there so Jeremy could not steal it as it was very expensive so he will know where it was found) I of course think it was knocked off the table in the scuffle and ended up under the rug as it fell during the scuffle.
-
I have to say that I find it very frustrating when known facts, like the installation of the panic button, written about and accepted as fact for 28 years, installed because of the threats made against Nevill in his work as a magistrate are now suddenly NOT accepted. Even Mike has talked about it and claimed the button was in the bedroom, which it wasn't, and I've never even seen bamber claim it wasn't there!! It was. Accept it. Move on.... lol

I'm sure it was under the mat nearest the sink...I could be wrong but I do know it is on here somewhere....We need a A to Z set up. Caroline????Where are you?????? lol ;D ;D ;D ;D

lol.....WELL!! It was even on Bamberbollocks.com. Why would Bamber have had it fitted? Why would Ann and Peter have it fitted?

Hi Vic I asked that very question on here a few days ago why would Ann and Peter have a need to have a panic button fitted after JB was convicted and sent to prison for life. IMO the panic button was fitted prior to the murders at WHF.
-

I'm not saying it wasn't fitted???? I had read that is wasn't connected. If you follow the phone line going from the phone that was found off the hook in the kitchen, the wire leads through what I can make out to be a window of some sort...an adjoining room?....What room backs on to that part of the kitchen? Please use the slide button to see the wire going through the window.... :) :) :)

LOL....There are blinkin wires everywhere Susan even near the sink...a button must have wire leading to it and from it....I think that wire leads to the drink cupboard, which is only accessible from the back of the lounge... :-\ ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

I heard Shelia had an Abortion... June was very unhappy with it...
I don't know if David Boutflour was knocking off with Shelia.. Sheila is not blood related to David or to the Bambers?
If I was 22 in the 1980's would like to knock off with Ann Easton. :-[
Jeremy was a target of trial by media.. and the dodgy silencer evidence by police or Alleged been planted by David Boutflour... to get the farm and caravan park...
or even cover-up their "Alleged" secret relationship, was Sheila told by David to take out the Bambers is a lover's killings were they both live in the house together? but used Jeremy to deflect the media.

Actually you're not, so be careful.

Well, thanks for answering Vic but I just feel if it was installed pre murders, it would have played a bigger roll and I haven't seen Ann or Peter mentioned it in any statement nor have I seen it documented. I can understand and respect why you hold with the idea but without any other references to it, it makes far more sense (to me) that it was installed after - along with the alarm system. But I would certainly change my view if it is 'proven' otherwise.

The alarm was fitted after the murders Susan, it wasn't fitted for Ann and Peter. EP organised for it to be fitted and perhaps in instances where there has been a violent crime, it is/was police procedure to have a PB installed along with the alarm system.
-
Re: the panic button. I am pretty certain that it was NOT mentioned at trial. As Caroline says,it isn't mentioned in anybody's statements either. I also haven't seen any mention of it on the Bamber website either, but vidvic says it is mentioned? If anybody finds it could they please post it up?

I can see a reason to install a burglery alarm at WHF after the murders, the house standing there empty - but I can´t see why a panic button would be installed, no one was there to push it!

Actually I don't remember much of the trial reported by the media except after the verdict. What I think though is that crimes of this nature should be conducted outside the district where they were committed. But I honestly don't think Bamber was tried by media? Of course it may be that I just don't remember that it was?

I'd be interested in seeing it too. I have scoured the internet, looked in all the books I have and there is no mention of it. I know it's not in any of the statements (on here at least) because I'd have remembered it. I would be the first to say "Fair enough" if someone could provide one piece of evidence to prove it was there post murders.
-

But it wasn't intended to always be empty and it may have been installed as a matter of police procedure after a violent crime. Look at it another way Alias, why would a panic alarm be installed without an alarm system?
-
Morning Caroline
I cannot dispute your theory that the panic button was installed after the murders at WHF as I can only take the word of other posters that it was in situ at the time of the murders I have no evidence to prove it. I have been thinking long and hard (quite unusual for me) what benefit it would be to Ann and Peter to say it was or indeed what benefit to Jeremy to say it was installed post murders. I can actually answer this question myself but will refrain as it would be just speculation. I will just keep an open mind but I am inclinded to agree with you in that why was it not mentioned at Trial but then again lots of stuff were not mentioned at Trial. I rest my case.

Morning Susan. I doesn't take a huge stretch of imagination to understand why a burglar alarm would be fitted into an empty house in an isolated area, but a panic button!!!! Would this be so a burglar could call for assistance if their felony was disturbed :D
Naturally I can only speculate on why and when the Bamber system was installed but I can say catagorically that my friends' was installed because of a real and serious threat to them all. Theirs was a bog standard three bedded semi with no other burglar alarm system. I don't know the logistics but I imagine the panic buttton acted like a 999 call which went straight to the main police station. The panic alarm was disconnected as soon as the threat was removed. This would seem to indicate thatn they are only installed for individual and specific reasons and for general purposes a burglar alarm is thought to be sufficient protection.

Hello april dear
I agree why install a panic button in an empty house post murders at WHF I can understand an alarm system but not a panic button. I am yet to be convinced that Ralph did not activate the panic button after phoning Jeremy I seem to think two police cars were deployed from different stations to WHF on the fateful night. I suspect it would not be to helpful for EP to disclose this or for the prosecution to bring it up at Trial. Sadly we will never know. :( Why would Jeremy say a panic button was not in situ at the time of the murders none of it makes sense to me.

Susan, it may be possible that Nevill didn't feel able to share the seriousness of the situation. June, I imagine was always "anxious" and such knowledge may have alarmed her, then there were ongoing concerns regarding Sheila's health, future, children. He may not have told Jeremy about because Jeremy didn't live at the farm so it didn't really concern him.
-
april I agree that Ralph would have kept things back from June that would cause her worry but had a panic button been fitted Jeremy would know. What was the nonsense that Jeremy pressed it to see the response time this was supposed to have been said I think by Barbara Wilson. Are you surprised I am confused :'( but I never believed that story anyway not quite that daft ;D ;D ;D
-
Referring to Lugg's post #111, when was it first reported in the Press ( local or national), that relatives of the deceased family, had discovered in the guncupboard at WHF, a silencer ( or sound moderator), which was claimed that EP had "overlooked"?
-

If such an alarm was fitted, there would be at least one reference to it. Don't you think it would have been mentioned in relation to the phone call to Jeremy from Ralph by at least one person? And with all Robert and Ann's weird and wonderful theories, neither mention the personal alarm in any of them? There is no evidence that it was there and until, there is, I will remain sceptical. It seems Jeremy also recollection that it was fitted after and as a regular visitor, I think he would know. However, I am still waiting to be 'proven' wrong. :)

Caroline, good morning :) I hear what you say and I understand your reasoning. My own personal experience of a family who had one installed because one of them and their children were under threat of murder, hardly constitutes concrete proof. All I can say is that once the threat was removed, so too, was the panic button. If magistrates don't get them fitted as a matter of course, what would bve the point of fitting one in an unoccupied house OR a place where there was NO specific threat. For me, this is key. The threat must be serious, real but specific. IMO, it would be useless for A and R to say they were concerned that X MAY try to break in, or Y looks like a shifty character. If that was the case, most of us could have requested one at some time, but if they were so readily distributed their efficacy would be dramatically reduced.
Why would the wider family know of its existance if Nevill had chosen NOT to tell his close family. He had the opportunity to tell BW during the somewhat cryptic conversation he had with her regarding his concerns, but he said nothing. As to why he didn't reach automatically for it that night, I can only suggest that, strictly ethical man that he was, he reasoned that it would be an abuse to use it for any purpose OTHER that that for which it was installed AND as it had always been, family business was sacrosanct.
-
Morning april I have made my own enquiries since yesterday from a gentleman very high up in the legal profession who informed me that a panic button will only be fitted if a persons life is at risk and once the risk is removed so is the button. I remember Andrea posting way back in December saying some years ago she was fitted with a panic button for a short period. We can speak to her about it next time she is on.It would now appear to me that a panic button would only be fitted at WHF if Ralph's life was under serious threat was this the case I wonder I have no evidence of it.

Susan Hello :) As was the case with my friends. Theirs and their childrens lives were at risk from a very serious threat. If no panic button had been installed PRE murder, I feel we must question the validity of the claim that Nevill's life was deemed to be at risk. We could post our findings under a new thread entitled "Forum Myths and Legends" :D

april that would be a very busy thread and dominate the forum ;D ;D ;D

Morning April, the only threat came from some local nutter as far as I can see. I don't think magistrates have them fitted as a matter of course and again, there is no evidence of it having been installed pre murders - other than a few anecdotes. Unless someone can prove to me that it was fitted pre murders I won't be changing my mind. Too many things are simply accepted and we just never move on. Know doubt the panic button will be brought up again in the future and written about as though it were fact, hopefully if that's the case, someone can post the evidence to back it up. It's not just the existence of the button (pre murders) that's in question, it's why it was installed, it's position, who knew about it etc. Everyone seems to have their own 'opinion' well, my opinion is that there was no panic button but I'm inviting people to prove me wrong - with some evidence. We need to kill the myths!!!
-
Hi Susan. Your friend has told you that - once the risk is removed then so is the button. That then leads to the question of why then,it is still in situ at whf? It is possible that police installed the alarm after Nevill was threatened by Jimmy Bell,or the father of the lad he sent to prison, who was said to have been threatening Nevill. Either way,if alarm was indeed in situ pre murders,I certainly don't believe it was active. I have many reasons for believing this, but of coarse, that is only my opinion.
-
Hi tyler I agree just because a panic alarm is in situ does not mean it can be activated as I feel is the case just now. I am having doubts as to whether it was connected pre murders as Ralph would have used it. When Andrea put up her post she said the police installed a panic button in her home just for a short while. My neighbour told me panic buttons are not just installed unless for a very good reason i.e. a life is threatened and when I think about it this makes good sense as we would all want one just in case.
-

I think the key question here is, and let's for a moment, accept that it was installed, who knew about it. I suspect the answer may be NOBODY other than Nevill. To me it follows that if he felt unable to tell June, out of courtesy to her, he wouldn't tell anyone else either OR he may have simply been afraid that they would say something accidently. I think it highly unlikely that the police would divulge information regading its installation or the reason for it, because it became void after the murders.

What? Did he just hope she wouldn't notice the button and ask what it was?

Well Vic, whilst its presence is hypothetical, we can place the button anywhere. My friends' was under the telephone shelf so one would suppose them not to be placed anywhere they can be triggered accidently.
-
The attack button at whf was located in one of the bedside cabinets...
We know it was activated at around 3:30am, and that Ralph called police just beforehand. It is a matter of opinion whether Ralph activated the hard wired alarm downstairs, and if June Namber activated the portable one upstairs? It is interesting that Ralph had to go downstairs to use the phone, and that the hard wired attack alarm was also fixed there as well. Because, no sooner does Ralph start speaking to police at 3:26am, than the attack alarm was being activated, and it would make sense for Ralph to have pressed it...y
On the other...
Why did June Bamber walk around from one side of the bed to the other...

How do you know it was activated at 3.30? There was never an alarm button in the bedroom. It is quite laughable that you still persist with a call from Nevill to Police.. As for the timings, madness.
What will you possibly gain from telling so many lies?

Panic buttons are usually installed after an event. It was in my bro's case years ago, after a faux-pas was covered up by MI5.
-
The attack button at whf was located in one of the bedside cabinets...
Not if your informant(s) misinformed you. It would be somewhat inconvenient to have a cable trailing out of the back of a bedside cabinet. Even if a panic button had been installed there, there could have been a second one downstairs. You have never claimed there was only one.
If the Eatons had an alarm system installed after the murders, they would have been told by the installers that the additional cost of including one or two panic buttons would not be high. Such panic buttons are intended as a means of raising the alarm when the normal alarm system is not set (because the house is occupied). The costly part of any such systems is not the installed hardware, but the charge by the alarm company for receiving and acting upon alarm calls. Many people decide not to pay for that, as it's very expensive.
I note that vidvic states he saw a panic button later, not that he asked the Eatons about when it was installed, and that he thinks he read about it somewhere (but can't recall where).
-
Hi lookout the panic button installed after the event would be done in case the event happened again. Police don't install panic buttons willy nilly. They can be installed as Reader has pointed out by a private alarm company but can be very expensive to run.

That's right,Susan. My brothers' company at the time organised it because what my bro. and family suffered,,,they were being compensated for,in a way,as extra protection.
