In 2014 3 men were arrested on suspicion of murder, conspiracy to pervert the course of justice and indecency with children. A woman, 42 was arrested for conspiracy to pervert the course of justice and also indecency with children.
Vulnerable young boys frequented the " Shed " where they met out of boredom as there were no network sites or mobile phones so it was a place to meet their friends and socialise that way. Detectives feared that Lee had been murdered if he'd attempted to intervene and prevent abuse. The graveyard had been scanned using sophisticated equipment looking for clues but despite extensive searches no body had been found.
2011 saw the conviction of the grave-digger William Lambert 75 at the time who was jailed for 11 years for the rape and sexual assault of girls aged 11 to 13.
A fresh Crimewatch appeal was carried out in 2013 which would have been Lee's 40th birthday and his parents and sister had said they remain hopeful that one day there'll be a breakthrough.
Sadly it doesn't appear very hopeful to date. There are hundreds of children who go missing/vanish and this alone is an investigation in itself without all the other crimes on a daily basis. Someone should be appointed wholly for missing children in order to act as soon as is possible the minute it's reported. I don't think any search is carried out within the " golden hour " of a child going missing and it should be adhered to to keep the situation from going stale.
