At some point after Jones and Clark had left the crime scene, something very unusual took place involving the bodies of Sheila Caffell and June Bamber which had both been laid on top of the bed side by side one another! For example, the bodies of both victims were moved onto the bedroom floor either side of the bed! June's body was placed close to the main entrance into the bedroom towards the landing at the top of the main stairs, whilst the police moved Sheila's body onto the floor on the opposite side of the bed!

The contents of police witness statements would later be tampered with, inwhich firearms officers would falsely state that the bodies of June Bamber and Sheila Caffell' had been found in the positions that their bodies had been moved into after Jones and Clark had left the scene!

Rather somewhat more disturbingly, the firearm officers would all say in their witness statement version of the alleged events, that when they had originally found Sheila Caffell's body on the bedroom floor, that she was already in possession of the anshuzt rifle which she was clutching to her body and that she had already been shot twice in the neck!

They would falsely state that when they had come across Sheila Caffell's body on the bedroom floor that there was a Bible resting on the bedroom floor in close proximity to her body!

By way of an explanation in respect of the false witness statements in which firearm officers had given false information concerning the whereabouts of Sheila Caffell's body at the time they had first come into contact with her, this came about because at a debriefing held at Witham police station on the evening of the first day of the police investigation, senior officers had told all the officers who were present, that when it came to making notes, reports and witness statements which dealt with the first discovery or contact with each of the five victims, that they were to refer to the positions of the victims bodies as captured in crime scene photographs which had been taken by PC Bird!

It should be worth mentioning that PC Bird had not arrived at the scene until 9.20am, and that he did not get an opportunity to take any crime scene photographs until just after 11am that same morning!

By the time PC Bird started taking photographs of the position of Sheila Caffell's and June Bambers bodies, senior officers had already completed staging their death scenes on the bedroom floor either side of the bed in the parents bedroom! Moreover, Sheila had received a second shot to her neck which occurred during the practicing of 'informatives' soon after Jones and Clark had left the farmhouse. In point of fact, Sheila had effectively been shot twice with bullets from different guns, shot by a bullet fired via the bolt action rifle (PV/19) when she was downstairs in the kitchen, and shot once more by the semi-automatic rifle (PV/20) on the bedroom floor which had been brought into the bedroom from its position resting at the box room window!
