The Case Of Mike Tesko

Problems for Mike Tesko, started on 22nd January 1986, with a claim that two police officers, as part of a No.3 Regional Crime Squad Operation, were inside an observation van, outside a target premises, at and from 5:20pm, when they witnessed a stolen Alfa Romeo vehicle arrive at the scene containing two occupants, the driver who they identified as Mike Tesko, and another man who the police failed to identify  - before any "strike now" command could be issued, both men returned to the car and drove off...

The regional Crime Squad Operation was stood down for a week, until 29th January 1987...

On 29th January 1986, the Regional Crime Squad was again on duty in the vicinity of the target premises, when at shortly after 9pm, that same date, a vehicle turned up, containing two occupants, one of whom was claimed to be Mike Tesko, both men entered the target premises at which point, a "Strike Now" command was issued and up to 20 police officers ran drove and attended the scene with a view to containing the scene and effecting the arrest of the two men who had very recently arrived ...

According to the police, it was snowing at the time of these alleged incidents and there was up to two inches of snow on the ground...

Within 30 seconds or so, the target premises was surrounded by up to 20 police officers, with the two men from the car inside, apparently in the building...

Detective Inspector, Patrick Auther Henshaw, who led the No.3 Regional Crime squad Operation on both the 22nd and 29th January 1986, testified at Committal proceedings held at Barnsley Magistrates court in the summer of 1986, to the effect that once the "Strike Now" Command had been given how he and other officers had converged upon the scene, and that as the vehicle he was travelling in as a passenger turned into the road junction, how he had seen a man standing at the door of the target premises, a man who he immediately identified as Mike Tesko...

Henshaw testified that the man at the door appeared to notice that something was happening, and as a result the man walked from the door, along the front of the premises, and he turned immediately left down the side of the house...

Henshaw leaped out of his car and jumped up onto the garden of the target premises, and by the time he got to the corner of the building, he could hear the sound of a door on the side of the building being banged closed, locked and bolted from the inside. He could also see footprints in the snow, which he said terminated at the door spoken about...

There were no other footprints in the snow to give an indication that anyone had ran off, or left the scene...

Police eventually gained access to the building and carried out a search, but they failed to find either of the two men, - "Mike Tesko", had to all intents and purposes, vanished into thin air...

Yet to be explained, despite the fact that some 25 years have elapsed, is how anyone could have escaped from the scene considering that within 30 seconds or more, police at the scene were convinced and satisfied  that Mike Tesko had gone in to the premises...

Why then did police concede that Mike Tesco, had somehow flown the roost, and made good his escape..

I spent some five and a half months on remand on trumped up charges, because of evidence like this, where police claimed to have seen someone who they thought was me, at a time when the police were supposedly sat in an observation van out side some target premises on Wednesday 22nd, January, 1986, as part of a No.3 Regional Crime squad operation - the truth did not come out until Committal Proceedings held at Barnsley Magistrates court, in July 1986, when it was confirmed that the observation van these police officers claimed they were sat in at 5:20pm, was not in fact parked up outside the premises until 5:55pm...

Despite making these false statements, both officers were not disciplined, or suspended, or prosecuted for making a false statement...

Today, DC Robin Caulfield, is in fact a Detective Inspector in the South Yorkshire Police...

How can this be?
